22 arrested at Sex & Drugs Party in Jomtien

I think that IF the girls were under age that would have been mentioned in the article. Also IF there were harder drugs than weed besides the pharmaceutical stuff the girl was caught with, the article would have specified that also. Instead it sounds like consenting adults were having some pretty basic and natural fun that did not hurt anybody.

Suppression of individual freedoms to use a natural substance and to have a natural activity when all are adults seems very out of place in making reforms. In order to bring "happiness back to the Thai people" it would seem that personal freedom would be high on the list.

What sort of people would rent their house out to 22 druggies ?

I'm sure their families will be immensely proud to see their siblings in that photo.

Most probs people with greed on the mind. 10,000 THB a day for rent, and on top of that a deposit would have to be paid. Not really sure how much wear and tear you would get after a party like this !!!!

I've never been to a sex party, never really felt the need, but the numbers seem a little out of sync to me ? If i was to go to such a party, then I would want those figures reversed. 15 women and 7 fellas sounds like more fun to me. I wonder if they have a spectators gallery for all us old ones that prefer to just watch these days ?

Never been to girlie bar in Soi Cowboy? Seems pretty much like a sex party to me--sex, drugs, and drinks available. And, the odds of 2 to 1 seems pretty much the same too.

To better the odds, the "mama-san bar the door" technique is recommended. Thereby, increasing the similarity to a real sex party.

I'm failing to see the seriousness of this particular report. The reporting is shocking, I'm sure a lot has not been mentioned, for the Police to hold a press conference to show-off their big bust, sort of indicates, to the likes of myself, that there must have been something more serious than just a sex party with a few drugs thrown in. Attended one or two sex parties when I was younger and a damn good time was had by all.

15 men & 7 women eh...seems a bit unfair to me.

Here's what got me though....

"Khun Bodin aged 23, one of the partygoers, was caught with a

45mm semi-automatic handgun and bullets"

A 45mm handgun eh. Khun Bodin must be one heck of a big guy to carry

the thing around since the 40mm gun below is kinda large....let alone firing

it....

attachicon.gifImage4.gif

Giving the PDN the benefit of doubt I reckon it was a typo and they

actually mean a .45cal pistol which is a tad bit over 11mm in

diameter.

I also wonder if there was any Rock & Roll at this sex & drugs party...

LOL Thai man over compensating?

Initially I couldn't dig up a pic of a 45mm gun and used the pic of the 40mm Bofors gun instead.

But now...here's a pic of an old Soviet 45mm antitank gun....

post-146250-0-21502000-1403497903_thumb.

Compared to a bog standard .45ACP pistol...

Kinda difficult to conceal the 45mm on ones person I presume.

"....15 men and 7 women, who all later failed drug tests, were arrested..." regarding ratio: more than one way to skin a cat..... What, no farangs involved? What is that about? Remember this post for when some do gooder rants about how our behavior is so offensive compared to pristine Thai behavior. And furthermore, how come I never get invited?

Let's face it - you need some illegal substances inside you before you'd throw your car keys on the table and take pot-luck with this lot - wouldn't you ?

Pol.Maj.Gen.Sanit added that they also caught Mr.Piyapong Nonsiri aged 24 a serial bag snatcher who had snatched property off 7 foreigners. Upon arrest he was found to be carrying lots of drugs.

Not a nice bunch really !!

Some young people did a party and now they got arrested and probably face jail? Ok, to carry guns is a bad habit.

Did they hurt anyone else? Is this such a bad crime? I'm happy i enjoyed my youth years in a western country.

Depends of the number of ladyboys among them... rolleyes.gif

Hope it was dark, they ain't the prettiest....

Prettiest ?? How can you know without any picture of the girls ?

Or maybe you are talking about the boys, or ladyboys... wink.png

So where are all the women in the photo, looks like it was a gay sex party or did they just arrest the guys

Nope. "....15 men and 7 women, who all later failed drug tests, were arrested..."

I too, was a little concerned about the disparity of female party goers vis a vis males, but then it's a little unclear as to how the BIB attributed sexuality to the ladyboys. whistling.gif

The LB arrests were a different case.

What exactly was their crime?

If it wasn't for the guns, I don't see much wrong. The article mentions Erimin 5, which was a pharmaceutical drug (a benzodiazapene): Nimetazepam. One of the pictures show what look like a little bit of cannabis in plastic. If there were much more illegal drugs like cocaine then they would have been mentioned and photographed.

The lousiness of the reporting must be mentioned:

So what were the other drugs? If you're going to say that there were other drugs, then at least state what they were.

The writer has a problem with distinguishing between plural form of a word and ownership. e.g. "party's" should be "parties". "ladyboy's" should be "ladyboys".

There should have been pictures of the girls too. Don't they know that readers like to see pictures of girls?

"What exactly was their crime?" Possibly it centred on possession of guns and illegal drugs?

"The lousiness of the reporting must be mentioned:" No, it absolutely must not; pedanticism is worth a mention though.

one of the females at the party was caught with the drug Erimin 5 which is a prohibited substance in Thailand.

So all the other party people where tested for a legal drug ?

I thought all drugs are illegal in Thailand.

"I thought all drugs are illegal in Thailand." Why would you think that, relatively few are? Ever noticed those shops all over the place called pharmacies?

Just watch? What's wrong with your hand then?

Funny that, as Scottish women immediately came to mind when I first read this story.

In order to bring "happiness back to the Thai people" it would seem that personal freedom would be high on the list.

Which people? There are people for whom personal freedom is a threat. Slave-owners don't like their slaves to have freedom to do things. I imagine if you walked outside without clothes on, the illusion of personal freedom may become apparent. It doesn't matter that you have no intention of hurting anyone when you're hurting them by not letting them hurt you.

Arguments about John Stuart Mill liberty, the right to free will, the right to Self-determination, Utopian ideals, fairness, etc; these are all logical and reasoned arguments that fail to take into account the nature of power. Real power Knows Best how to put her foot down to persuade and she doesn't care for competition that she cannot compete with. All happiness must go through her.

Keeping up appearances. They're making a statement, I think. "This will not be tolerated", before they return to tolerating it. I think it's about appeasing the sorts who always complain about others having fun because they're miserable and crabby and hate to see joy that doesn't include them.

Lock them up and throw away the key.

Unbelievable scum, what has become of these evil people, having sex behind closed doors.

This is not the point.

The point is, why the illegal drugs and deadly weapons? These will be the carrying of weapons and dealing and using of drugs charges, nothing to do with the sex part.

From what I have just heard, this is by no means a one off for this crowd and their wider associates.24 x hour parties, loud booming music all weekend, drunk and yob rule behavior, damage to properties and assets in the immediate surrounding areas to their partys and threats of violence against anyone who challenges them, plus guns being brandished at ordinary people in the streets.By all means, have some fun,but don't behave like wild animals.I remember rave parties back home, but they were held in deserted warehouses and farm buildings, not in the middle of residential estates.I have seen many folk drunk and boisterous but I have seen few worse than the locals when intoxicated and mobbed up!

This story broke on Saturday I think, but can't remember where I first saw it. There are other photos on other media sites somewhere. A luxury house at approx 400 bt each person doesn't sound too luxurious to me. Hope they don't have carpets!

At 10000 thb per day that equates to 300000 in a month.

6000 sterling or almost 10000 USD per month is a good little earner

A cigarette lighter is a deadly weapon, if you want it to be. In a world of cigarette lighters, some people carry knives. In a world of knives, some people carry guns. My point being, the things you've listed are illegal but who has been harmed? Victimless crimes should be criminal. If it is wrong to merely possess a deadly weapon, you should come arrest me with my cigarette lighter. I haven't killed anyone with it yet, but you never know...

Making something illegal doesn't make it wrong. But if you make something that isn't wrong illegal, you can replace what isn't wrong with what is wrong. Then you can use the unpleasantness of what is wrong to justify continued prohibition on what was never wrong. Methamphetamine is FDA-approved and a miracle drug used to treat children with ADHD in the US. But 99% of people know it's horrible illicit drug that ruins lives or teeth.
