oldgit
There is another list going around with some very interesting names on, including an ex Home Secretary. There has been a clear cover up by the establishment, with the government admitting that 140 files are missing. Irrespective of age, these people should still be bought to justice. Watch Savile bragging about "how he got away with it" in the Louis Theroux doc. He did get way with it, but the cat is out the bag and there will certainly be some more being prosecuted. My Original rolfaroo us now consigned to the cupboard, not really appropriate to have it displayed. Following on from this,Mark Sedwill, the Permanent Secretary to the Home Office, was interviewed by the Home Affairs Commitee on his investigation of the whereabouts of over 500 missing files,114 of which dealt with, among others, an alleged paedophile ring at Westminster from the early 1980's to 1990. This information was handed to the then Home Secretary Leon Brittan, by the late Geoffrey Dickens MP in 1983. The investigator Sedwill hired to carry out the work, could not establish the whereabouts of these files and concluded that they had "probably been destroyed" by Home Office officials. The point that struck me was that, during the interview,Sedwill said that, if such important and damning information came into the Home Office's possession now, it would be normal procedure to pass it on to the police. Could it have been that these missing files were also passed into police custody? Shouldn't Sedwill, in his investigation, have asked the police to check their archives? I don't think the Home Affairs Committee posed this question at the interview.
MJP
The Geoffrey Dickens file is now said to have been copied and is with various government departments but is held under the official secrets act.

The 84-year-old was targeted during an incident at HMP Bullingdon in Oxfordshire. A source said that there was a scuffle and the artist and musician was nearby. "Someone did aim a spit at him, but he was not spat on, and was not physically hurt," the source added. News of the incident came as it was announced that Harris has applied for permission to appeal against his convictions for a string of indecent assaults. A spokesman for the Judicial Office confirmed that lawyers had lodged papers at the Court of Appeal this week.
