Spaniel
Wife and I are planning to visit Luang Prabang next month for a few days and looking for a hotel recommendation for around $50 p/n max. We have never been there so any other travel info would be appreciated.
pomchop
Good place to start: http://www.travelfish.org/accommodation/laos/northern_laos/luang_prabang/luang_prabang/all
keeniau96
We were there several years ago, excellent overall. Many good places to stay, particularly the converted old mansions. It's a small town, walk everywhere so location is not really a big deal but best closer to the river (not too close, fairly high and steep bank <grin>). dddave
We really liked the MEKONG HOLIDAY VILLA which is located right across from the river in a fairly quiet area near the national museum. Nice terrace for eating the included breakfast which was usually very good. Comfortable beds and nice, old style rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g295415-d2266867-Reviews-Mekong_Holiday_Villa_by_Xandria-Luang_Prabang_Luang_Prabang_Province.html
WhizBang
A little out of your listed price, but I stayed at the Mekong Riverview Hotel on the peninsula a few years back. It was a wonderful little hotel. Even though more than you want to pay, you should check it out.

Spaniel
Thanks for all the hotel info. We booked a Bangkok Air r/t for 5 days in early September. Looks like plenty of hotel options. One we are considering is the Indigo House Hotel as well as the ones mentioned.
