Court dismisses flood-related lawsuit against Ms Yingluck

BANGKOK: -- The Central Administrative Court today dismissed a lawsuit filed against former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra and ten other officials for their alleged mismanagement of water control resulting to the worst flood ever in 2011 causing massive property damages.

The lawsuit seeking compensation and better flood prevention plan was filed against Ms Yingluck and associates by Ms Charoongtip Lorrungroj and ten other people.

The court dismissed the lawsuit on the ground that the plaintiffs were not flood victims and the defendants themselves also sustained losses from the flood which the court described as very serious and unpreventable.

May I be the first to congratulate yingluck on this ruling. Well done.

I will not throw sh#t at the courts, burn effigies of the judges or burn coffins out the front of the court house. I will not intimidate the judges or give their addresses out. I am not a fanatical monkey. I am educated and understand that in a democracy the rule of law must be respected. I don't agree with the ruling and in fact strenuously disagree with it, but democracy must prevail. Respect must be given to the courts and judges. Maybe they had more evidence that we got from the Thai media. Maybe they mulled through the 100's of pages of statements and facts that we are not privy too. Maybe just maybe they made the decision based on these facts and not an agenda.

I for one cannot help but think the courts are non partisan after all the ruling that have gone in favor of the red shirts and the PTP of late and in fact in the past as well, but that is just silly to suggest that so I won't as not to embarrass myself. It is scape goating and an easy out for defenders of criminals to use as a last ditch effort to defend the criminal elements in society.

One must remember not to applaud the courts when decisions go for you and denounce them when they go against you. Again I do not agree with the decision, but I applaud the courts for making it based on all the facts and evidence presented. I am glad that I was wrong in this case and that she is not guilty.

If this attitude was adopted by all sides it would go along way to making Thailand a more peaceful democratic country.

I don't disagree with the ruling. If Jatuporn was wrong to blame the Democrats for the flooding in 2011, and he was, then by extension Yingluck isn't guilty either. There has been a total lack of maintenance of equipment, no enforcement of laws regarding the filling in of canals etc. Every government for the last 50 years is to blame for not formulating a policy and not ensuring the enactment of said policy.

They are dismissing the weaker cases the same way they did earlier in the year because they know they have case that they can't loose; such as Tawil Pliensri's transfer.

I disagree that the flood was unavoidable (at least in part), but in the interests of moving forward as it seems the Junta wants to do, it is probably best not to open up this potentially very damaging can of worms.

How can you possibly think Me Yingluck is responsible for the devastating floods? Thailand's reservoirs, dams and flood canals have been in a sorry state for years before she bought her position as Pm

Now that it is flooding gain in some parts of Thailand, who d you want to cast the blame on?

The govt has been unwilling for years to spend the billions of baht for needed repairs and the victims in the low lying areas have no where to go

May I be the first to congratulate yingluck on this ruling. Well done.

Of coarse you can not blame her for a act of god, that she is not, nor even remotely related, (though some think the sun shines out of her brothers arse). cheesy.gif

The undercurrents of condescension in your replies swell my democratic heart.

It shows not only your frustration at the logic I present, but an inability to rebut the argument because of it.

With that said, thank you for the compliment.

Interestingly though that as some are very very quite when the rulings are in favor of the PTP it is the same that are very very vocal when the court rulings go against the PTP while simply forgetting (like a goldfish remember? Pun intended) the previous rulings that favored the PTP and unsurprisingly the most vocal happen to be the two people that replied my post!

May peace and reconciliation be with you both my dear friends and thanks again for proving me right through your responses.

It's a copy of your post from 16th July, almost word for word. Sarcasm obviously flies over your head and you must have a very short term memory.

Your posts simply amuse me, you seem to have your head up somewhere. But keep them coming, keeps me laughing.
