Non Imm 'O' Visa - Already Have Valid TR Visa in Passport?

Featured Replies

Hello, all.

At present I'm on a 30 day visa exempt stamp. As I work offshore on a 28/28 rotation I rarely require to stay in the country for longer than the stamp allows, however as I'm married to a Thai national I have decided to go to Savanakhet next week and apply for a multi entry non 'o'. based on marriage. This should be no problem.

The guy (UK national) who I will be travelling with is also married to a Thai national and will be applying for the same visa (Non Imm 'O' based on marriage), he is currently in the country on the first entry of a double entry tourist visa, meaning when he applies at the consulate in Laos he will still have the second entry unused. Will this be an issue, and cause for refusal of the non imm 'O' visa? Must he utilize the remaining tourist visa entry before he can apply for a new visa even though it is a different class? Can he get the remaining entry cancelled and the new visa issued?

Many thanks for any replies.

He will have no problem applying for a non-o visa with a valid tourist visa in his passport because they are not the same class of visa. The embassy should cancel the tourist visa when they do the non-o.
