I love the but gun but Ladies need to be aware that they should always be spraying from front to back as spraying from back to front can cause unwanted partials into their vagina and cause a urinary tract infection, which can then lead to kidney infections. (UTI ) Just saying...

Guns can always be dangerous :)

UTI's and vaginal infections are very different. Just thought I'd mention it.

What causes UTIs?

Bacteria (bak-TIHR-ee-uh), a type of germ that gets into your urinary tract, cause a UTI. This can happen in many ways:

Wiping from back to front after a bowel movement (BM). Germs can get into your urethra, which has its opening in front of the vagina (vuh-JEYE-nuh).

A good spraying leaves you much cleaner than paper which just spreads it all around (and can then lead to skin infections in the hot weather). Then simply use one or two sheets of tissue to dry (and as "check" sheets)... Repeat spraying if necessary (newcomers).

Much better to put a damp tissue rather than a dirty smelly tissue in the bin provided.... Best to avoid putting paper in the bowl especially if there's a septic tank, as the paper totally screws up the drainage.

Never got the hang of the bum gun. What do you use to dry yourself with after your douching?

Try toilet paper to dry yourself.

And, with toilet paper, what do you use to clean yourself after you have managed to smear your bum with feces?

I bought a bum gun once to install in the toilet in my home country. .........Now that was a mistake.

All toilets in my Florida home have a copper water tube running under the toilet seat to serve as a biddet, of sorts. After a brief surprise, visitors like the idea. In fact, my cousin who is a housing contractor, regularly adds the bum gun or biddets to bathrooms.

I learned to like the bum gun so well I brought 3 back to the US for my bathrooms. I was doing remodeling anyway so I made a second half inch connection by each toilet. The Thai threads work fine on US half inch pipe. Saving a lot on toilet paper now. If I time it right I can skip the paper and step right into the shower. My laundry is cleaner and I hate to use the toilet any place but my house now. I recall my lovely Thai-school-teacher-wife's wrinkled nose when she first saw my daughter's underwear (teenage girl refuses to adapt). Daughter has to do her own laundry now as Waan Jai refuses to touch the "dirty girl's" clothes. (Wasted hours cleaning underwear by hand only to have all her hard work crapped on again next week).

I heard a Doctor once ask "If you fell down and your hand landed in dog sh*t would you wipe your hands off with a paper towel and call it good? Heck no! You would use water at the very least and probably soap as well! So why is your ass different?" I had to agree with his logic.

What kind of man cannot figure out a bum gun? You point and squirt. Nothing else to it. Wipe dry with tissue..or paper towel (no need to flush that, hopefully) Some guys like finger painting (wash and rub with two fingers) that can get funky. I like to wipe, rinse, and finish off with a wetknap (sold at drugstores). If I get pissed off at a guest in my home, I turn up the water pressure high on the bum gun. One shaky hand and you can damage the nut sack good.

Or a surprise enema!!

Toilet Paper!

Unless you stay in one of the 5 Stars Hotels in Bangkok. The newest thing is an air blower built right into the toilet seat so you just sit back and enjoy why you are being dried,

But don't use the air blower by mistake before the wash, or other wise it... well you know.

A dedicated hand towel which is laundered regularly. IS THAT TOO HARD to comprehend?

Yes, it is. Can you please explain what is a "dedicated hand towel", I have white hand towels and a couple of other colours but not sure if I have a dedicated one.
Come on man---its not that hard---- a dedicated bum wiping towel is for drying your bum ater using the toilet spray. We have one always in our toilet and it is changed daily. It hangs on a little rail at the side of the toilet and there is a bigger one on a rail next to the hand basin---guess what that's for,yes--for washing your hands.A simple and hygienic method that is 10 times better than the terrible paper roll.Cannot believe that anyone would consider wiping a piece of thin tissue paper over their bum and walking away can be more hygienic than clean water and a towel.I have read these toilet threads many times and not replied.Well I have done it now and can ignore the rest as they come up

for those who lack phantasy this is what my "crap corner" looks like laugh.png

There are times, when I meet a farang and he instinctively presents his hand to shake. Sometimes, when I know my right hand is soiled (I work in the garden and on motors), I'll smile and tell him truthfully why I'd rather not shake hands. Sometimes basic truth is ok, and takes precedence over formalities.

I can't believe how thick some people are. I was having a lend of the guy because he was another smart ar*se who was talking down to me like I was 5 years old. As if I don't know what "dedicated" means. Even when I said initially that I "never got the hang of the bum gun" people immediately assumed that I didn't know where to point it, when what I really meant was that I never felt comfortable using it. My Thai wife uses toilet paper as well and she's born and bred Thai.

Whenever people debate about toilet paper vs. using water (bum gun, bidet etc.) I ask them a simple question: If you tripped over and hit your face on a dog shit - would you rather rinse it off with water or wipe it off with paper? -Madventures

Here's a challenge, next time you wash and spray, just once use some paper after, you will be surprised how much crap is still there. I use a combo of each, though one must be careful as many Thai toilets are not design to flush paper. As for the OP still getting "skid" marks, suffer, obviously you are either trolling or your memory is piss poor if you can't remember how to use paper.

Bum gun totally foreign for me. I take a shower immediately after. If irregular because of some <deleted> food, then shower at the earliest opportunity. It's called personal hygiene. What a ruckin horrible thread!

Wow, it must be painful if you go to a restaurant and need to crap....no shower for you to clean up. "personal hygiene" to far too hyped up, we need a certain amount of "dirt" in order to establish a healthy level of bacteria in our bodies. We westerners are far to "hygienic" for our own good.

Correct. Historically speaking, people were better protected from bacterial skin infections due to a "Crusty build up on unwashed skin". Left in place, this Crust would provide a reasonable barrier between Homo Erectus and harmful bacterium. Modern men, as we most certainly are, prefer to scrape our backsides with harsh, chemically treated crap paper. To add to the drama..soap, water, and perfumed moist towelettes are jammed in there to further open up avenues of approach by unwanted parasites/fungi/and the aforementioned ill-intentioned bactera. Think of your Anal cavity as you would your Ear. Most ENT specialists would advise you not to totally scrub off the earwax (a crust layer of sorts). Ear infections can be caused by too much rubbing with Q tips and alcohol, leaving crevices for bacteria to hold on to. Think of your Anus in the same (albeit not exact same) way. For, as we are all aware, our anus pretty much sets the mood we carry for any given day. And I, for one, hate being in a shtty mood.

Ya right.

CDC estimates that each year roughly 1 in 6 Americans (or 48 million people) get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die of foodborne diseases. Estimating illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths for various types of diseases is a common and important public health practice.

Yep, we have learned something from the Asians. TTF for the spray 'Dush'.

I agree. I think the spray "Dusch" is hygienic and clean and can be dried by toilet paper. What I really don't understand is that in most western like luxury hotels in Thailand there are no spray "Duschs". Guests don't have to use them if they don't feel like it, but why not have them for such guests that appreciate it?

I thought I'd never share this tidbit of info:

One time, with no toilet paper available, I crumpled up magazine pages (I had done that with newspaper other times prior). a day later, got inflamation which lasted a week. Magazine had color pages = chemicals = ugh.

Take some bright high school kid......a school science fair.......an equal number of tp users, bum spray users, and bum spray w/tp dry users. Lots of petri dishes for testing the fingers of everyone after they do their thing. Good potential for top prize, I'd think!
