Hey guys,

I am French citizen, 58 yo living in koh Phangan since 10 years.

I am on Non-Immigtant O multiple since 3 years + (3 visas use each for 14-15 months). My last entry was on 29 june, giving me 90 days, so I am good until 26 september.

I plane to extend on retirement Extension 1 year based on INCOME.
I have about 96 000 baths income each months.

I dont have a thai girlfriend.

I don't have any rental agreement, as I live in a resort, in a big double “bungalow” and the owner give me every month a rent receipt.

What documents are required and how to proceed ?

If any French is in same situation as me in Samui or Pha Ngan, it should be of some help.

Thanx a lot for advices.

For proof of residence can I use my Thai driving license?  Will I have to photocopy it also? If you have a letter from your embassy certifying your monthly income, do you need any other financial documents to give to them? What is the cost to get a single entry and cost of a multiple entry? If I get a single entry, can I add a multiple entry to it in the future if I need to leave Thailand more than once in the next year?

Thanks in advance

There are few immigration offices that may ask for back up proof for the income letter. The back up proof is a Thai bank book showing transfers in.

What will accepted as proof of residence will depend upon the immigration office you have to use. Most will want a rental agreement.

Back up proof for income (to Embassy letter) could also be pension documents and such at most locations.  Normally income letter is accepted as is and if not any such backup document would be OK.  Receipts for stay my well be accepted for proof of residence.  I doubt a DL would be.  An extension is only an extension - it does not allow travel - to travel out of country you require a re-entry permit at 1,000 baht single or 3,800 multi entry (and this can be obtained as soon as extension stamp is in passport).

Hi

My driving license is Thai and my address is on the back of it. My wife gave them copies of her TaBaan Bahn and ID so that  I could get a Thai driving license.  I built the house on my wife's land and we have lived there for 28 yrs. I don't pay rent or anything and have no receipts. Up until last year I was working in Thailand and had work permits. I never gave them/company any documents about where I lived, Only the address. The company handled everything for the work permit. Are the same documents that I and my wife submitted for the Thai driving license enough for proof of residence?  Regarding the single entry, I request one single entry when I request the retirement extension so that will add 1,000 B to the extensions cost(1,900 + 1,000 B= 2,900 B). Is it possible to request and pay for another single entry or multiple entry before the retirement extension expires in the next year?

You can use a copy your wife's house book as proof of address.

You can apply for a re-entry permit at any time during your extension. You don't have to do it on the date you apply for the extension..

You will first need to get an income letter from the French embassy to prove your income.

Then after the 27th of this month up to September 25th you can apply for the extension.

You will need copies of your passport photo page, visa, entry/permit to stay stamp and TM6 departure card. You will need proof of residence.

Fill out a TM7 form and attach a photo. Put 1900 baht in an envelope and mark it as 1900 baht for fee (if not you may asked to pay 5000 baht).

So that's it... No medical certificate, no statement of non criminal record in my country, nothing else.
My only proof of residence is the receipt my owner give me every months since 10 yers. I was thinking to bring the last 3 of them. I could bring the 7 years as i have keep them, ahahah

For the envelope, i had read about that before, and i will do it.

French embassy is very long for processing things, do u you think i can bring my pension documents + statement of my bank in france + statement of my bank account in thailand to SAMUI immigration, it will be enough ???

By the way, thanx for your help.

For other people who answer in this topics, it should be nice to focuss on the threat.

IT IS ABOUT RETIREMENT EXTENSION IN KOH SAMUI, nothing else, nowhwere else.
Thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Medical certificate....YES OF COURSE! (For sure.)
Criminal record did you gave one already or never? My first year retirement visa ( not extension) was issued by the Thai embassy in Paris Yes I was asked my criminal record! It was in French (of course) but since the Thai embassy was in France no problem, here not doubt it would have to be translate.

Medical form and police reports NOT required for retirement extensions in Thailand. They are for O-A visas done in home countries. Starting with an O-A is NEVER required. It is only an OPTION. Many start with the retirement extensions. Cheers.

Extensions done in country are not subject to the O-A visa police report/medical requirements.  As for language if required expect you would have to have translations made into English or Thai for backup proof (but by doing early you would have time if required - but as said it is almost never asked.  A few months receipts for lodging would likely be accepted - if not they might ask you to get a letter or other document from owner.

Immigration will require the letter from your embassy no if's and's or but's!  They will notaccept your proof without the letter.

...by the way to OP,  RAWANG!  EVERY LETTERS has to be in Thai, even thought some will tell on this forum "If its in English its OK"

Ko jai my?" So I had to go asking for a new one in Thai! Maiby in Pukhet or who knows where it would have been accepted, but OP is asking for Samui I speak for Samui, last week, for the same extension. This being said... have a good day every one

Also if OP want to PM me since we are from the same country and my extension in Samui is one week old he is welcome.

It is a general requirement for BANK letters to be in Thai, but immigration offices have always (as far as I am aware) accepted EMBASSY letters in English. However, is it,in fact, the case that Samui also require EMBASSY letters to be in Thai?

Unfortunately I cannot answer since my extension is based on 800,000 Baht I do not need a letter from my Ambassy, as far as OP is concerned since it is the French ambassy the letter will have to be translate in Thai for sure!

Immigration wants everything to be in either Thai or English. If the income letter is not in English it needs to be translated to Thai.

Thank you all for your help, specially Tchooptip (Georges).
Like finally i am more confused now than before (i am not surprise) ; I will go directly to Samui Immigration, as suggested by Georges, and ask them what papers they really want.

Like this i will be sure to go for applying with the correct documents.
Will post here their requirements as soon as i have them.............
