Popular Post deknoiJT
Last night we were at a food court. In front of us a farang gentleman ordered some noodle soup. He spoke no Thai and the woman spoke no English. The order was done by the gentleman nodding and pointing at the menu and asking in English for the ‘large bowl’. The Thai food woman was looking at him with a puzzled face and asking him questions in Thai The Man handed over his card, had the amount debited and received his card and receipt back. He studied his receipt with a frown, then holding it high up in the air, he started berating the shocked woman about how she had overcharged him! Not just any overcharge mind you, the criminal overcharge of 20 baht! The noodles he wanted were 35 baht and she was charging him 55 baht! The guy was using his finger, pointing at the woman, his face going red, getting louder and louder. Other food stalls and customers were looking over at the scene he was creating. It was clear to me the guy wanted the 35 Baht noodles and he had been charged for (and would have received) the 55 baht noodles, so no rip off, just a miscommunication. After about one minute, enough was enough, I couldn’t listen to him anymore. I was hungry and just wanted some noodles. I took 100 Baht from my pocket. With a dismissive wave I said: “This is for your noodles, now F#*# off!”. I am a big guy and not many people argue with me. He was momentarily stunned and thought about saying something to me, but instead he scuttled away with the 00 baht. 20 Baht! I still can’t believe it.

I can't even use my card in BigC if the sum is under ฿1000.- . Guess you've never really eaten in a food court. You first go to a booth which gives you a "kinda" debit card for 100 baht, 200 baht ....whatever you give them. Then when you buy food at one of the vendors you give them the debit card (which, by the way, is only good in the food court) and they deduct the price of the meal. If there is a credit still left on the card then you go back to the booth and collect your balance Great story!!!
NE1
The OP never mentioned a credit / debit card. The transaction was not made with a credit / debit card . The majority of food courts in shopping malls do not accept cash. So you buy credit at a booth and they give you a food court card with the said credit on.

deknoiJT
Gentlemen, what we have here is a 'Misapprehension-Cluster'!! In Foodcourts you purchase a debit/coupon card and then purchase your food from your desired vendor with the card. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script> I have my doubts that a noodle vendor would except a debit card, Great story though.
