Underpass is better than where you took those photos, in fact I just drove through it.

I drove through Lotus and Central junctions about one hour ago. Never noticed that amount of flooding. For sure the traffic was backed up, not unusual in Phuket during/after heavy rain.

A huge amount of water being pumped out of the underpass - no need to say any more about that disaster waiting to happen.

Underpass is better than where you took those photos, in fact I just drove through it.

Yep. I can't wrap my mind around that either, but according to other news sources, they "opened the underpass because the roads above are flooded."

 

"Phuket City Drivers Use Central Underpass to Beat Floods  flooding was reported at 11am around Central Festival Phuket in Phuket City today - with the incomplete underpass being used by vehicles to escape waterlogged roads above."
