After 6 years of relationship I will take my girl as my wife. That marriage visa simply is the only option for me.

The parents of her have passed away before I even knew her...and her family has so far not approached me with regards of making any payment. Is it normal to pay the family a dowry when the parents don´t live anymore?

After 6 years together you would know if she expects sinsod.

I highly doubt that she expects it...but I thought that this is not her decision but rather the decision of the family.

You gonna marry the family.........?

They all going to live with you.......?

Oh, and if your lady comes up with "this is my second mum"..........w00t.gif

I have seen that one...............sad.png

Aint that the truth, some old "aunty" or sister who took the poor wretch in and raised her as if she was her own.

Forget the village wedding completely.

It's a worthless party for poor rural people you don't know and she doesn't like.

Amphur Office, real wedding, and only 30bht.

If you want to push the boat out, 500bht new dress for her, 500bht dinner after.

(No rings, no gifts)

Ahhh, the romance!

You are so right, OP.

But what do you expect from old farts?

My advice..........doesn't matter if they ask for sin sod or not.

You give, and you give generously, at least 2 to 3 million.

Build a house, buy a car and get some cows, so her status in community will stand high.

Don't be a cheap Charlie and never believe these dubious posters that have some experience in life.

But his GF is different!

Why do you want to give money away...?

Thousands of falangs give away billions of baht every year. Look how many threads are started here and how many posters defend the paying of sinsod.

How many clowns do you know that pay sinsod for their wife who has previously been married or has children?

Recently went to a village wedding and the Thai groom gave his previously married wife both cash and gold. It sometimes does happen.
