I am an American, over 60 years age, have a non O visa based on marriage. My question is a friend of mine mentioned since I was over 50 years age I could get my 90 day stamp at immigration office in country instead of traveling to the border, is this option available? It is not an extension, but rather the first 90 day reporting/ length of stay renewal. Thanks in advance b

You must make a border run and enter another country first before coming back. Only if you apply at immigration for a 1 year extension of stay would you no longer need to make border runs and simply do 90 day reports.

Thanks Mario, I was planning on a road trip, it's just when a friend mentions it's not necessary, he must've been thinking about the extension part. Seems like every country has their own quagmire of visa endeavors. Thanks for clarification.
