Community Confused Woman Wades into Lake Naked, Claims Ghost Pulled Her In
Picture courtesy of Amarin Authorities in Udon Thani were called to a public park on Monday after a woman was found almost nude in the waters of Nong Prajak Park, claiming she had been dragged in by a water spirit. Pol. Lt. Thirayotin Supsin, Deputy Inspector of Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, was conducting a routine patrol when he received reports of a mentally unstable woman undressing and entering the lake near a riverside restaurant in the Ban Non community. Concerned she might drown, police officers and municipal fire crews responded quickly to the scene. The woman, later identified as 35-year-old Ms. Paeng, was found standing at the water’s edge holding a sponge gourd and seemingly searching for something underwater. Dressed in only a red pair of underpants and wearing just one black shoe, she told officials that her full name was “Isabella” in English and that she was a local resident out for exercise. She explained that one of her shoes had fallen into the lake, prompting her to jump in, resulting in all her clothes coming off. Ms. Paeng claimed she was then pulled under by a “phi phrai”, a malevolent water spirit and only escaped by chanting the Buddhist protective mantra “Na Mo Phuttha Ya.” A strong swimmer, she managed to surface and exit the water but was left with nothing but her underwear. A kind passerby gave her clothing after seeing her in distress. She also displayed a large tiger tattoo on her back, which she said protected her from misfortune. When authorities attempted to escort her to hospital for mental health assessment, Ms. Paeng initially refused, expressing a strong dislike for the police due to a past conviction for theft that resulted in a year-long prison sentence. She said she preferred firefighters and soldiers. After nearly 10 minutes of negotiation, she finally agreed to accompany officers but only if she could ride in the fire truck. Eventually, she was persuaded to transfer to a police vehicle, on the condition that a firefighter accompanied her. She also requested to be taken to a nearby charity food centre at Wat Pa Ban Tat monastery. Officials contacted her relatives, and Ms. Paeng was transferred to Udon Thani Central Hospital for evaluation and care. Mr. Phet Khwanprasert, 54, a fellow resident, told reporters he saw Ms. Paeng undressing before entering the lake. Concerned for her wellbeing, he asked if she had been abused, but she said she was simply hot and wanted to cool off. He confirmed that she lived near the hospital with her husband and expressed sympathy, noting that while she showed signs of mental instability, she was still able to communicate clearly. Authorities have not confirmed the cause of her behaviour, but mental health specialists are expected to conduct further assessments. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-04-30. -

Even Republicans are falling out of love with Tesla
The reality is that regardless of what side of the aisle you're on the quality of a Tesla is not very admirable especially the Interiors which year by year seem to be getting cheaper and more chintzy looking. All the interior value seems to be in that ridiculously large monitor. And then there is that utterly ridiculous and juvenile looking cybertruck. And then you come to the man himself. Even Republicans are having a hard time defending him at this point, as there's been no transparency whatsoever when it comes to the supposed DOGE savings, there's been huge job losses amongst Republican supporters, and he's become such a liability and such a fool, that even Trump's having to let him go, and that says a lot. -
