A suspected Ebola passenger who came back from the West Africa and other four passengers are now under surveillance at the Intensive Care Unit of Specialist Hospital (Waibargi), according to Dr Than Than Htay, medical superintendent from the Hospital.

A 22-year-old man, who visited Liberia in West Africa, was found during a screening of passengers at the Yangon International Airport. Their blood samples have been sent to India to indentify the Ebola virus. The 22-year-old man who arrived from Thailand on the MAI flight (Air Bus 320) (8M 332 Yangon-Bangkok schedule) at around 8 pm on August 19 had a fever.

Burma Tests Man Returning From Africa for Ebola

RANGOON — A 22-year-old Burmese man is being tested for the virus Ebola after he arrived at Rangoon from West Africa suffering from a fever and malaise, a Health Ministry official confirmed Wednesday.

The Ministry of Health’s rapid response team—which has been conducting thermal-imaging checks on passengers arriving at Rangoon International Airport—sent the man and four family members to the Waibagi Hospital in the city’s North Okkalapa Township, which specializes in infectious diseases.

Suspected Ebola Patient Diagnosed With Malaria: Burmese Health Ministry

Quarantined Burmese man cleared of Ebola

A 22-year-old Burmese man, who was detained at Rangoon airport on 20 August on suspicion of carrying the Ebola virus, has been cleared after a series of tests and will be free to go home within five days, Burma’s Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.

In a statement, the ministry confirmed that no Ebola virus was found in the patient after a series of blood tests at Rangoon’s Waibagi Hospital were sent to a World Health Organisation (WHO)-recognised laboratory in India.
