One of these cattle prods should work wonders. Amazon or E-bay should sell them. I have seen what it does to a 1,000 pound steer, so a dog should get the message.

hahahaha .. yes mate but think it would turn sorta nasty for me if I dares try .... cheesy.gif

The cattle prods are sold on Amazon. They have a large selection!

1) Can you buy this in Thailand?

2) Ate they legal to use? Will I get put in jail for using a cattle prod on a loose dog?

I'd think in a village you would have a lot more issues than in a place like Bangkok

The soidogs are not racists but if you show any little bit of fear for them then you are theirs.

To me they don't do anything but i 'm prepared and will sure kick any soidog as hard as i can. I am a doglover at heart but agressive soidogs are still on my list for some education.

When i walk with my wife they always come in groups but as soon they found out that they better not play with me they are gone. Then they run back home and the owner acts like the dog was bad and should not do this. The owner also could have called their dogs back when they saw us coming but for some reason they always call them back when it is to late allready.

I would be happy to kick one with my slippers, no matter what happens next or if they are in a big group.

Also sometimes i just sit down and talk to the group of soidogs and be friendly to them, then they act like lapdogs and all want to be stroked by me, even the big ones.

It's not that they are so agressive but in a group they think/know that they are stronger untill the moment their leader gives up and they all act like they had the best intentions. So i walk straight to their leader without hesitation and that always works.

If a dog barks only at black dogs and black cats, then you'll know he's racist. He'll single out Tamils, negroes and any Thais who can't afford skin-whitening cream.

I used to live in a soi with three packs of soi dogs, one at the beginning of the soi, another at the middle and the third at the end of the soi. The dogs only eyed me on the first day I moved there. After that I didn't quite exist as far as they were concerned. Maybe it's my face. Maybe it's my Bangkeaw's face. Maybe just because I have a dog makes me the good type to them.

I have an electric bicycle and there's one soidog who is the leader of his "flock", and everytme he hears the noise from the bicycle he comes after me and I have to speed up or face the dog. So now I switch off the battery and the dog doesnt even care about looking at me.

Who wants to carry a water pistol or large stick wherever you go? I bet Thai people aren't going to like to see a foreigner with a large stick hurting their dogs.

Has anyone seen the American TV show The Dog Whisper with Cesar Milan? Confidence is key.

I'd love to Cesar Milan try to train one of these troublesome Thai village dogs! I don't believe even he is capable of that.

He'd have better luck trying to train an Australian dingo or a hyena!

The white Bangkaew in my soi goes crazy whether I pass on my push bike, my son's motorbike or on foot. It simply does not like me one bit. Luckily it is behind a secure fence, otherwise I would have my arse chewed off everytime I pass. I have also noted that the dog hates kids too.

I assure you that I have tight little buns, and cannot afford to lose any meat therefrom to feed the neighbourhood beast from hell.

Isn't it strange that lots of posters who see themselves as hard done by in Thailand are the victims of dog attacks.

Must be a connection there somewhere. Expect the Digital Nomads have a really tough time.

HAHAAHA ... its a bit like the situation I've had of late.... I've had few guard dogs in the past for the business but they got far too vicious and had to get rid of them. No matter what, I'm not scared or terrified hovwever, do know the difference when things are getting dangerous, particulary when this lone pack in Putam Thani looked like they was gonna take me out and that really got my brain racing although, all worked out in the end.

Its ok us all having a laugh about these crazy mutts but don't fancy my little boys chances with them running about outside on their own .... Anyway, part n parcel of livvng here I suppose since there's alot more lethal things in Thailand than Soi dogs ..........

So right, it seems certain times of the day they can turn if they are not kept behind their owners fence, when I go for a walk, my samurai sword is covered by my walking umbrella.

Never had to use it yet, and frankly I do not really want too but just showing it seems to do the trick.

Bangkeaws don't count. They don't like anybody other than their own masters. I know because I had one and I have friends who also had Bangkeaws.

I would normally agree with you on Bangkaews, but I have seen this one stick its nose up at the Thais who live on my street not deigning to give them the time of day, not even a solitary half hearted "woof".

I have more to fear from the motor bikes that go up and down my soi at insane speeds.

We have 3-4 dogs at the end of my block. Most look too tired to do anything. They love to hang out in the lobby of the hotel. I did glance at the one dog and he came out to investigate. I was around the corner, so he just went back inside.
