What happened to this hospital ? I paid 100 baht service fee to see a doctor right after they opened. Total price was 350 baht. This is a government hospital , they cant charge farang 5 times more , can they ?

Yes, very & badly surprised by prices announced in this topic !

I went there the last Sunday of Songkran for a bad eye infection sad.png

I had to buy inside 2 eye-drop bottle (antibiotic + pain relief)

They clean my eye. Put drops in. Wait. Clean again. Drops. Dressing on eye.

Total... 139 baht!

(I still have the bill: 100 baht nursing, 32 baht for drop-bottles, 7 baht for "medical supplies")

Yet another thread waiting for a follow up by the thread starter.

Not so useful to discuss without knowing details of the treatment.

Other posters' fresh input is useful too but I don't think we need 2 concurrent local hospital threads. Can we merge and live happily together?

I'll get me coat....

Yes, unfortunately.

To Thailand's great shame dual-pricing is practised even by the government.

What?

That is the ONLY case where charging foreigners more is legitimate.

If taxpayers pay for the facility, then outsiders should pay more.

2300 baht is pretty cheap. Just over 70 USD. If you went to an ER in the US without insurance (if they even let you in the door and agreed to examine or treat you) the price would have been much much higher.

............and the US is the perfect model for healthcare?

And if the foreigner is a taxpayer?

In the UK everyone gets emergency treatment for free and the taxpayer foots the bill for the lot. Everyone also gets free access to museums etc., regardless of race, colour or creed. Again, the taxpayer foots the bill.

My god man, did you take the short bus to school?

Taxpayers have essentially pre paid for the services.

Non taxpayers should pay more for the services.

Racial profiling and gouging by commercial enterprises, which we see way too often is not the case in a Gov facility.

Actually I suspect that the vast majority of Thai's don't pay tax as they don't earn enough to meet the income tax threshold. Those that do pay tax are the high earners who probably use private hospitals as they would lose face by going to a government facility.

On the basis what you are saying is that those who can't afford it should pay more.

And tax-payers who are also foreign, as I mentioned?

And should Thais who pay no tax also pay double?

Are you serious?
Most Thai's that visit that place don't pay taxes or hardly any.

Farangs pay more taxes in VAT and such than 70% of the Thai in Pattaya.
