BANGKOK: -- TWO high-level police officers are among suspects involved in alleged land encroachment in Nakhon Ratchasima's Pak Chong district, a senior Army officer said yesterday.

Army Region 2 chief of staff Colonel Sommai Budsaba said two police major-generals allegedly owned a 49-rai plot and a 17-rai plot, out of a total of 330-rai of military land in Khao Nong Chuam area that had been encroached on. He said title deeds had been illegitimately issued for the plots.

"The police officers allegedly built eight houses on the two plots - seven of which were complete while one remains under construction," Sommai told The Nation.

An Army working team was trying to retrieve the Khao Nong Chuam land from influential individuals, Sommai said. "If the probes find grounds for wrongdoing, officials would submit the cases and let the justice process run its course."

The working team has told the Special Warfare School at Lop Buri, as the legitimate land title-deed owner, to proceed with the cancellation of illegitimate title deeds, he said. The working team would forward the cases to the Anti-Money Laundering Office for further investigation.

Sommai's team was inspecting 10,000 rai in Phu Rua forest of Loei province yesterday. He said that the team would, on September 10, investigate 1,600 rai on the banks of the Mun River in Ubon Ratchathani province. They would also probe 1,000 rai in Nam Some-Nayung forest in Ban Phue district of Udon Thani province. "We aim to probe all alleged land encroachment cases in the Northeast in the near future," he said, adding the mission was to free the region from influential groups.

No! High level, 'law enforcement' officers breaking the law they are supposed to uphold? But how can that be?? They look so heroic in the soap operas!

To help get the message over let's see bigwigs in court and if guilty properly weighed off, assets seized and the whole nine yards.

The Chinese have an appropriate saying " Kill one in public and a 100 see ", sometimes it's a 1,000 but the point doesn't change.

Ye gods !!!!!

Surely not corrupt practice by those entrusted with the duty of upholding the law?

No.

In fact the property is owned by their maids and drivers who are in reality eccentric millionaires who let their employers use the property to enhance their police and social status.cheesy.gif

Strange how now there is no Dr Police Lieutenant Colonel pulling the strings these matters come to light.whistling.gif

Arrogance, over confidence and a ' we're bombproof ' mindset. Time to sort that out.

Well then, these guys are in serious, serious trouble. Justice is coming for you boys!

The headline should read two of Thai's 3% suspected of land encroachment, the rest of Thailand couldn't afford a bottle of water in week three, with their meager monthly income, DSI Tarit was supposed to have buildings on land that the DSI didn't even know he had, as NKK said lets see these people prosecuted to the full extent of the law and don't give me all that B/S that they didn't know. (Off Subject) Latest stat. 63% of Australians have run out of money before payday, payday is every 2 wks. bah.gif

quelle surprise!

nothing new here, more of thaksins buddies joining in on the ptp band wagon of corruption. It doesnt matter what rank or wealth these people hold/held, they should all be taken in front of the courts and made to pay for their crimes. All those that have broken the laws need to be held accountable, assets seized, tossed in jail and suffer major loss of face, this should apply to all offenders.

Wrong for sure. I wonder if they were red shirt supporters.... just asking.

Nothing new to see here, move along!

...Thainess....you can see it everywhere at any level....bah.gif

Oh well if the ''justice process runs its course'' nothing will happen to them, they might even get an apology for the interference.

While they are at it they can take a look at how can they afford to build eight houses on a policeman salary.

Who has issued the land papers?
An asset check would certainly be worthwhile, if they really want fight against corruption.

If found guilty, ( unlikely ), they, as TOP COPS will be transferred to Unassigned Post Island - PREMIUM !

2 of my former neighbours were in the police force, one run the towns illegal lottery and the other one the drug trade, what a sad excuse for a police force.

"Thai-ness" by definition refers to the Thai people in general, if that disgusts you so much why are you here?

While they are at it they can take a look at how can they afford to build eight houses on a policeman salary.

Yep - I know a young Thai guy who did his Masters and PhD in Aussie. His dad - a policeman.

Make it the Thai way: it goes to court and there it needs so long till everyone dies from old age.

100 see and learn from it.

While they are at it they can take a look at how can they afford to build eight houses on a policeman salary.

8 houses at cost would not be too difficult for 2 Major-Generals. Ever heard of mortgages?

Thai police...giggle.gif ,

first they extort, rob and steal the money, and then they try to launder it by encroaching on land? God bless them, for their minds are feeble.
