BANGKOK: -- TWO high-level police officers are among suspects involved in alleged land encroachment in Nakhon Ratchasima's Pak Chong district, a senior Army officer said yesterday.

Army Region 2 chief of staff Colonel Sommai Budsaba said two police major-generals allegedly owned a 49-rai plot and a 17-rai plot, out of a total of 330-rai of military land in Khao Nong Chuam area that had been encroached on. He said title deeds had been illegitimately issued for the plots.

"The police officers allegedly built eight houses on the two plots - seven of which were complete while one remains under construction," Sommai told The Nation.

An Army working team was trying to retrieve the Khao Nong Chuam land from influential individuals, Sommai said. "If the probes find grounds for wrongdoing, officials would submit the cases and let the justice process run its course."

The working team has told the Special Warfare School at Lop Buri, as the legitimate land title-deed owner, to proceed with the cancellation of illegitimate title deeds, he said. The working team would forward the cases to the Anti-Money Laundering Office for further investigation.

Sommai's team was inspecting 10,000 rai in Phu Rua forest of Loei province yesterday. He said that the team would, on September 10, investigate 1,600 rai on the banks of the Mun River in Ubon Ratchathani province. They would also probe 1,000 rai in Nam Some-Nayung forest in Ban Phue district of Udon Thani province. "We aim to probe all alleged land encroachment cases in the Northeast in the near future," he said, adding the mission was to free the region from influential groups.

The headline should read two of Thai's 3% suspected of land encroachment, the rest of Thailand couldn't afford a bottle of water in week three, with their meager monthly income, DSI Tarit was supposed to have buildings on land that the DSI didn't even know he had, as NKK said lets see these people prosecuted to the full extent of the law and don't give me all that B/S that they didn't know. (Off Subject) Latest stat. 63% of Australians have run out of money before payday, payday is every 2 wks. bah.gif

Who has issued the land papers?
An asset check would certainly be worthwhile, if they really want fight against corruption.

Military land? How dumb is that?

Arrogance, over confidence and a ' we're bombproof ' mindset. Time to sort that out.

OR...

Perhaps collusion?wai2.gifwai.gif

We'll never know the depth...

While they are at it they can take a look at how can they afford to build eight houses on a policeman salary.

And also be able to afford to send all of their children to school overseas

Yep - I know a young Thai guy who did his Masters and PhD in Aussie. His dad - a policeman.

To help get the message over let's see bigwigs in court and if guilty properly weighed off, assets seized and the whole nine yards.

The Chinese have an appropriate saying " Kill one in public and a 100 see ", sometimes it's a 1,000 but the point doesn't change.

Make it the Thai way: it goes to court and there it needs so long till everyone dies from old age.

100 see and learn from it.
