Top 10 Worst Driving Habits in Thailand

Featured Replies

You giving the dead a voice and monopolize them for your argument. A vulture couldn't do it better.

Giving you the facts makes me a vulture? Here's some more facts,

Deaths per 100,000 people per year.

Austria 5.3

Germany 4.4

Thailand 38.1

You know what they say, you can't argue with the facts.

The topic is called "Top 10 Worst Driving Habits in Thailand". All those things the OP listed here except the motorbike stuff is happening on a daily basis in Europe. Posting dead toll statistics has nothing to do with it. Not sure why you wanted to go full offtopic on this one.

When driving on the hwy and there are cars in both lanes - a speeding vehicle attempting to pass by going between the vehicles…

Because you keep insisting that Thailand is a perfectly safe place to drive in and when I give you evidence to the contrary you refuse to accept it. Never saw anyone driving on the wrong side of the road in Europe which is common practice here, but continue with your denials if it gives you comfort.

Don't get angry at people who enjoy driving in Thailand. thumbsup.gif

Why do you say "it's not that bad" when Thailand has the second highest road death toll in the world? Do you mean it could be worse, it could be the highest?

I'm replying to the op. Motoring habits. NotMo Cy deaths that put the Body Count up being so vulnerable Roads are killing fields ,that's why I'm anti these ride top Pop ideas ,not a place to play.No mention of the accidents recorded over those periods but there were many.

It's the motoring habits that account for the high death toll. Car and motorcycle.

No it's not it's the mo Cy lot who die the most followed by Cycles and jay walkers OK they are hit by vehicles if that's relative

Is that relative? I would think so. What about all those killed sitting in the back of pickups, the tour buses that overturn, the trucks whose brakes "fail", the mini buses? The list just goes on and on.

Don't get me started on truck passengers in the cargo area I'd get banned. [emoji3]

I've counted 15 people in the back, men, women and children. In some rural areas that's the only way kids have of getting to school.

Regarding #5 I would guess that a lot parents can not afford helmets for growing kids. It is scary.

If you're so poor that you can't find 200 baht to buy your kid a helmet then you must be too poor to own a motorbike or fill it with gas.

200 baht is a plastic helmet from Big C. It won't protect the headi n a high speed accident.

Better than nothing. Not all accidents are high speed.

They're not really the facts, the Thai numbers are only for those who have died at the scene. How many more perished in hospital later on?

I wonder what the true total really is?
