Medical Certificate & Criminal Check for initial extension of stay

I will shortly be applying for an initial extension of stay for retirement purposes from my current Non-Immigrant B visa and have read a number of posts that suggest the medical certificate and criminal check are not required if I'm applying while in Thailand. Can anyone confirm this?

That´s right..... mind you, you can NOT apply for extension of stay outside of Thailand... ONLY inside Thailand'

They are not required when applying for an extension of stay here.

They are only needed when applying for a OA visa at an embassy or consulate.
