Loy Kroh Bars closing?

I have noticed that the girls who used to sit outside of the karaokes on Chang Klan (and even stand in the street occasionally and get you stop the car) are gone. They are still there, but tucked away inside. If you drive by and someone opens the door you can see them sitting there inside the doorway.

I don't drive by that slow. laugh.png

I used to. Very slow, in fact.

But now there's no reason to slow down.

It all becomes internet-based. Why it isn't already......?

I always thought that left handed web surfing was kind sad. Real life and Loi Kroh is much better for a titter, so to speak.

Ha ha. As you already know, I meant that the agreement to 'meet' is entered into via electrons.

Funny.

From what I have heard Loih Kro bars are being targeted and many of the bar owners I know have already rented new premises near to Foxy Lady opposite the car park just before Foxy Lady at the back of the night bazarr.

More than 40 units have already been rented on the 2nd and 3rd floor and some Bar owners have already opened bars there with many more to follow.

There were only about three bars open there in March.

By the time I returned in July, they'd all closed down.

They have only just rented them

this is NEW

Never thought that would take off big time here except for some boutique escorts sites. There are enough language difficulties in face to face, internet wise your new Thai conquest maybe a Trucker from Ohio..or Burmese or a girl (now) or just plain fugly. Having said I can see mobile phones being the new way...especially if your Thai is good and you can work Line messenger you will do ok...trouble is that rules out most tourists and this is where Loi Kroh comes in (well not just for tourists anyway). Loi Kroh at least allows for a robust job interview process.

My son is a police officer in Chiang Mai. The Loi Kroh Road is on his beat, so to speak.

He has told me, (that I have mentioned many times here on Thai visa) that the adults entertainment areas in the Loi Kroh Road are on borrowed time. It`s when not if.

Now many of these establishments are trying to re-locate into other areas of the city, or going up market (meaning same thing just more expensive), such as the Nimmanhamin areas (main) and some in more discrete isolated districts, mostly concentrating on the Chinese and Thai clientele. The same applies to restaurants that are being attracted to the Nimmanhamin and surrounding areas.

Many body to body massage and spa parlours offering sexual services have appeared on the scene within the last year, (check Chiang Mai Locator in Google) that are actually just very expensive glorified happy ending parlours. These are spread in more isolated areas and are mostly geared up for Thai customers. As a whole the adults entertainments venues of Chiang Mai is looking more towards the South East Asian markets rather than catering for the desires of Westerners. And this is going to be the shape of things to come regarding the adults entertainment scenes of Chiang Mai.

We know that some of the inner city massage parlours have started offering sexual services, taking advantage of the lack of decent beerbars and supply and demand, but the police are already on to this and soon their days will be numbered also, as in the not so distant future the authorities are going to impose new rulings that massage parlours will only be permitted to operate with fully qualified certified staff. Some regions of Thailand have already begun this and Chiang Mai is on the list.

So for the ex-pats who enjoy a bit of wine, women and song had best to forget all that and take up visiting the temples and shopping malls instead.

Interesting report, and good for raising the tone in that part of the city, but the reality is many of the girls will just go freelance and will be attracted to venues which will become well known magnets for punters in need.

There may well be such venues now? Not lived in the city for nearly 5 yrs now......

Most of the younger and more attractive girls that used to work the Loi Kroh Road and surrounding areas moved on 10 or more years ago. All that is left in the Loi Kroh Road are the older women and rejects that would find it extremely difficult to find similar employment elsewhere.

The best of them went to work in the so-called karaoke clubs in Chiang Mai Land and close by in the Chang Klan Road, but even those have not escaped the clamp downs and what remains are only the remnants of what used to be. I also very much doubt that the looker girls would go freelance, as most have now caught on that they are in supply and demand in Chiang Mai and aim for the higher end of the Chiang Mai adult entertainments industries, such as so-called high class escorts working for online agencies and the new body to body massage and spa parlours.

I have it on good word that quite a few of the Loi Kroh girls have already taken to freelancing in the streets during the late hours and many others have taken up employment in the numerous massage parlours that more and more seem to appear every month. But as I mentioned previously, the police are on to this and soon these outlets of employment may longer be available to them.

I think in the near future the shape of events to come will become known as the great Loi Kroh Road dispersia and perhaps the Nimmanhaemin becoming their new promised land.

"quite a few of the Loi Kroh girls have already taken to freelancing in the streets"

They're not free-lancing in Spice? Times have changed.

Speaking of Spice, when is its crackdown?

Popped down there last night for a quick beer, a few bars have already opened....a lot of interest there and can easily see it becoming a "new" bar area.

I took a walk through there after doing some shopping at the Night Bazaar. Typical bad business practices of bars with few customers (depending on counting the owner as a customer); no happy hours, no prices posted, gritty people playing pool......it was possibly worse than the boxing arena.
