Safe and easy trip from Airport to Khaosan Road?

Hi,

The topic-header says it all.

Please would someone advise on the best (not the cheapest) way to get from Suvarnabhumi to a pre-booked hotel on the Khaosan Road for a twenty-something femal who is travelling alone?

What time are you arriving?

Hotel meet and greet, or failing that a taxi from the ground floor, where they are logged.

I like the prearranged option. Taxis are very safe here, but every once in a while.....again, depends on when you are arriving. During the day, taxi for sure. Late at night, I'd try to get something prearranged.

The Khaosan Palace Hotel does not appear to offer an airport pick-up service, so logged taxi is probably the best alternative I suppose.

How much should that cost, do you know?

She's arriving at 11am so a normal airport rank taxi should be fine and 500baht or thereabouts is more than a fair price.

Myself I would take the BTS from the airport.Then Victory monument or where it stops I forget then take A taxi to your hotel.

The taxi option is the most logical. However, just in case you are feeling slightly more adventurous, there is a bus option. You catch the shuttle bus to the airport bus station then catch bus 556 which runs to the Southern Bus Terminal via Ratchadamnoen Klang (Khao San).

I still think the taxi is the best option. The airport link then taxi might be B100-150 cheaper but the taxis at Phaya Thai (terminus station) are not monitored whereas, at present, the airport rank is which will mean you don't have to haggle or be rejected 10 times whilst trying to get the meter used.

If she would like the security of a pre-arranged driver rather than a random taxi, Thai Happy Taxi (www.thaihappytaxi.com) will pick her up at a pre-arranged place and time at the airport and deliver her to KSR for about B800.

Does the bus cater for luggage well? (one large rucksack and one small backpack).

most people after a long flight to an untravelled destination want a simple safe door to door

and it is quite simple these days, line up, state your destination pay a small fee get ticket, wait your turn get in and arrive a the door, get out pay the fare.

and most single girls know to use their phone as a bluff if it looks like trouble, even if they have no sim
