Thai/Laos dual passport

Featured Replies

Wife has both a Thai passport and Laos passport as her Thai mom/Laos dad are divorced. She grew up in Laos in early childhood then moved/educated in Thailand.

  1. Her name on both passports are different
  2. She is a declared bankrupt in Thailand.

I need her to get her Thai name changed to the Laos or vice versa. Reason is that she was rejected entry into Singapore due to holding 2 passports. *Yes, I’m an idiot for not double checking beforehand.

So the deal is that either name needs to be changed and I know that the Thai name can be changed in Thailand.

Can she do a name change since she is a bankrupt?

How do I get hold of a document that says the Thai/Lao passport holder is the same person?

Any arrangement of dual nationality between Thai/Laos?

She can apply for a name change at an Amphoe. Bankruptcy will not prevent her from doing that.

How did they know she had two passports in Singapore? Did she make the mistake of showing both of them. She should of just shown her Thai passport.

As far as I know Thailand have no special arrangements for dual nationality. Thailand has no law against it. Not sure about Laos.

Yes, my fault for not reiterating that to her and hers for bringing 2 passports!

On another note, is there some way to check online on bankruptcy status or is there some firm that does it?

Could someone recommend as I've googled and international firms keep popping up which cost >USD100 and I've no way of knowing how legit they are.
