Testosterone supplements in Thailand...

I will be terminating my medical insurance when I leave the USA later this year to move to Thailand.

The monthly Androgel I currently take has a list price of about $300.

I seriously doubt any medical plan I get in Thailand will cover this. I want to have a least some energy when I retire in Thailand and I do feel a difference when I am taking this medication.

Is there any way to get testosterone supplements at a reasonable price in Thailand?

Androgel is available OTC, needs no prescription but I do not know the cost. It became available in Thailand only recently, just to be only pills and injectable T available. It is an import (made by Besins) so will not be cheap, but will be less than in the US. In Thailand they import mostly from Europe. The distributor is Zuellig, yo ucould try contacting them to find out what the wholesale price is and then figure a small retail mark-up. http://www.zuelligpharma.co.th/contact-us-0

Local insurance policies that include outpatient are prohibitively expensive and the extra premium for the out-patient cover is usually not worth it. Most people find it best to get only inpatient cover. So plan on paying out of pocket.

Lawley Pharmaceuticals (in Australia) manufacture testo products for men and women. They will post the tubes of gel to Thailand. Worth having a look at their website.

1 ml Testosterone Enanthate(250mg/ml) is 230 THBT. One ml injection of this dose is 100% TOTAL Replacement Therapy for a man for 2 or 3 weeks(up to your Dr).

Androgel is here in Thailand. It is much better therapy but more expensive.

As Enanthate has a halflife of under a week it would give a real uneven dosing if you use it once every 3 weeks meaning the first week you get 125 mg in your system second week 62,5 and third week 31,5. Would be better to administer a lower dose weekly.

Just my 2 cents.

I have been on TOTAL HRT for 35 years. The Endocrinologist I have seen in the US would not agree with you. Testosterone is metabolized by people differently and the range of TOTAL HRT of Testosterone Enanthate for a MAN is 1 ml(200mg/ml) IM every 1 to 3 weeks.

Gel is better for many reasons.

There are a few questions:

is the halflife on low doses the same as on high doses? I wouldn't take that for sure on the body. You only need to look at alcohol with higher concentration it is much faster consumed than with low concentrations.

Is the halflife on an elderly person with slow metabolism the same as with a young one?

Does a fluctuation really matter that much? It activates several things that need time to get started and don't turn off immediately so some fluctuation would be OK.

If the Doc gives the injection, going there more frequently might be inconvenience (travel time, waiting there, watching the nurse with low testosterone level, some people really dislike injections)

At 3 weeks on the last week you could support it with oral Testosterone to make it more even.

That is a good question. Even is better for sure. That's the main reason in the long term that Gel everyday is better. FWIW.

It is the half life of the Ester its designed to give it off that slow. Has nothing to do with your metabolism. Just look into it you with your background in biology must understand it quite quickly. The Ester is fused / combined with the testosterone for the timed release. If you want a faster release take cypionate not enanthate.

My suggestion is even better.. inject a lower dose every week. A gel is just for people who are afraid of injections its a inferior delivery system. (i do understand the fear of needles of course) And a gel you can apply yourself.. a needle.. not everyone can do that.
