What a silly, petulant, little man.

Strangely, as the polls narrowed, the cracks began to show and he changed from being a man with a mission to becoming a paranoid who thought he was the only one who was right and that anyone who disagree with him “was ganging on him” or “bullying him”.

Now he has thrown his toys out of the pram.

I can’t say that I will miss him.

The referendum was purely about his ego, he should go. He did nothing to stop the bigotry and hatred that this campaign has caused (he even supported it).

Hopefully Scotland can now get a leader focused on uniting a now split country.

Maybe some people believed Salmond was some sort of Messiah but I always had the feeling Salmond was on a mission to be the first President of

Scotland,people have no plans in the mind of the career Politician! and in Salmonds case it was glaringly obvious! Like you I won't be losing any sleep due to his departure! leaving office having spent years splitting a Country in two, is hardly a reference to be proud of!

It's the 16/17 year old's who where fed lies and false promises that i feel for.

With maturity and life experience they will look back on the whole palava with renewed enthusiasm for GREAT Britain.

A poll has shown that most 16-17 year olds actually voted No, in line with everyone else. I am no fan of Salmond, but he took his party from the fringes of Scottish politics to the brink of independence. He's had a good run for his money and has done the decent thing falling on his sword without delay. He has actually been criticised by some for going so quickly.
