Rustproofing and waxing - necessary or not?

Featured Replies

For a brand new vehicle. Dealer gave coupons for rustproofing and waxing scheduled for 3 months after purchase date. This seems way too soon, and I do not want to waste money. Previously had a vehicle for 5 years and never did either of these, without problem. So, are they really necessary or not? If so, how often?

Thanks for advice.

You had a vehicle before for 5 years !! me thinks you have answered your own question. biggrin.png

Depends where you live, as for me living in Phuket and close to the Sea, the Sea air has actually started to rust my car, which was quite surprising to me, but once I thought about it, the penny dropped,.... Salt in the air from the Sea Spray...

It's always good to have an extra layer of protection......here in the north with the burning and contaminants in the air and salt in the air in the south paints also a porous and build up micro gritty particles which the wax would protect from <> also helps keeping the color from fading - good ideas.....of course you can probably get just as good a product outside the dealer - but - the dealer might have a long warranty on the process that outside probably will not - depends on what the coupons do for you.....

Research - some vehicles weather faster than others.....
