NongKhaiKid
<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script> Why only negative responses? Personally, I think there is a hell of a lot more police work being done than is publicised and instead of being so critical, why not let the police/investigators do their job and if anything, be positive. So, unless any of you 'nay' sayers know exactly what is going on behind the scenes, would it not be best to keep quiet about it? +1 The arm chair detectives on TV are completely ignorant of solving crimes and they watch television and see a crime solved in an hour program and think this is the way things are done. They have absolutely no clue what the investigative process consists of and what might be required to follow up on leads. I am not going to defend the Thai police as being without some problems but this constant criticism on murders that only happened a week ago is nuts. Koh Tao is a small island without sophisticated equipment, forensics experts, etc. All those people had to be brought in. Ever watched the TV program about Cold Case Files. Some of these get solved years after the crime. At least it appears that they are putting 100% effort into solving the case although one might question whether it is for justice or to save face concerning world opinion and tourism. Do you honestly think the BIB have a Cold Case Unit ?
X pat
All the cops forces, and all the cops men could not put this mess together agen. Seems fitting as this is beginning to look a lot like a cold case.

gemini81
Tuning into the Thai news, when they interview locals from the island, they all act like they know nothing whatsoever. Hard to say, but resembles someone local and influential involved... makes you wonder! 100 guys sent there to look busy or attempt to compensate for poorly trained smaller teams etc. Just goes to show they are decades upon decades behind in knowledge, skill, transparency, training. Check the local news, just gives you a different perspective and chance to see locals' and police reactions...
loongdavid
Putting to one side the obvious pressure that must be being applied by the British Government in this matter, I am astonished (perhaps not in Thailand) that it takes so many police to do what seems basically a straight forward matter of eliminating suspects. The crime being committed on a very small island is every detectives dream come true.
waynethor
I can't help but think of the old theory that if you get a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters, they'll eventually write a novel. I think the monkey's have a better chance of reaching their goal than the Thai police have of getting the real killer.
WhizBang
And yet, they seem unable to finger the killer (if other reports are to be believed) standing next to them at the crime scene, and who may also be one of their own. Ahhh, right. NOW I understand.

SPB65
Deary me. So as it stands the low life mafia on the tiny island community of Koh Tao have completely got the entire Thai police force in their pockets. Maybe we under estimated the power of these families of speedboat operators. Thailand, hang your head in shame.
jesimps
The next move no doubt the redoubtable Chalerm returns and fingers the culprits as he knew everything. Case solved justice(?) seen to be done. Typical yellow fanatic trying to score political points from an horrific murder. Knew one of you would chip in sooner or later. Triplebank999
This has deteriorated below the levels of a farce to a complete and utter sick joke with tremendolus ramifications, that now the whole world knoiws that the Thai Police Force is full of numpty's and officers that seem to lack the most basic of skills . Noddy's Toytown springs to mind the only thing we are lacking is Big Ers but then we have plenty of Big mouths uttering nonsense. Albertosez
I know the " Thai Style " and what history might suggest the outcome of this will be. However, I have seen a difference with the attitudes of the police since the General took over. Things that have "gone on " in the past are starting to change. I'm not sure how long the changes will last, but nevertheless there are definite changes to certain aspects of how the police are conducting themselves. It's not that the police have suddenly stopped all activities that might be considered corrupt, but more that they, themselves, now find that they are under much closer scrutiny. They might even find themselves in prison in the General considers them complicit in covering up something serious - he did it with certain politicians ! Delay tactics, refusal to give DNA Samples etc.are just complicating matters, but I doubt very much that this will / can influence this particular case for two very important reasons ; The International Press and The Generals Reputation.
