I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, but it is all about the Koh Tao murders of these 2 inocent kids and also goes further to enlighten you what the outside world is saying and thinking. The following link will take you to TIME and is titled:

What the Murder of Two British Tourists Tells Us About Thailand’s Dark Side

If I've placed this link in the wrong place, my bad...sorry; I'm just trying to update everyone on what the outside is saying...besides the UK.

Cheers!

i WAS IN Pattaya during 9/11 and remember the scores of laughing locals watching video footage of people jumping to their deaths from the burning towers.

I was also on train in Samui when a backpacker had a very bad accident on a train and fell to his death, the glee on the faces of some of the travellers as they rushed to get a look was disgusting, several laughing out loud as they spoke on the phones to their mates, or whoever they felt the need to call and gleefully discuss it with.

Maybe its upbringing, who knows but to us in the west they are a cold hearted lot, the smiles are false, its all about the $$$$$$$.

In battle soldiers sometimes laugh before they go into a deadly situation. Maybe that is also true here. I find most Thai people to be very shy and if they see a dead body maybe its such a shock they laugh like a soldier entering no mans land.

Mayne people still laugh about 9/11 to this day. I have spoken with many Americas who scoff at the day. Personally 3,000 lives for over half a million isn't really comparable

So laughing at people choosing to jump to their deaths instead of burn to death is ok is it,?

And this was live as it was happening, not present day.

Gotta love ptopaganda (sic)

Actually just read the article, with the killers not caught yet again an ill thought out piece of press that shows a massive lack of compassion to the victims famillies.

No dougt he will be having his picture took on the murder scene smiling.

I hope the tourism on the island dies and the people that work their have to go back home and plant rice for 12 hours a day.

Just google this - Koh Tao murders - a tasteless joke by island disc jockeys. Those guys are not worried at all. They' seem to be taking the piss. The party goes on.

Unbelievable.

I wish i was more social media/internet savvy, i would spend a large amount of my time making people aware of how these people are treating this with such contempt, hopefully then people would avoid such a lawless place and hit them where it hurts.

So this arrived in my inbox this afternoon with the link regarding LATEST- update on the latest twist on the Koh Tao murders. The link has been blocked for me even up until now. OR if it connects, it s directed to the story above on jet skis or the story below on tattoos. Possibly my connection but wondered if anyone else has experienced such difficulties with this particular story ?

Blocked for me too mate..

Odd ! So there s a twist that we are unaware of then by the looks of it....

Not blocked. Just a missing colon in the link. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/762910-koh-tao-murders-police-free-bar-owners-and-look-for-ex-village-headmans-son/page-5#entry8430192

What the ferk is he gonna do?

Make a citizens arrest?

If there was gonna be any serious heat from the powers that be it would have happened by now.

Unfortunately this incident will just end up on a list with all the others, bungled botched and fitted up.

I'm afraid you are correct. No cavalry, I mean army sorry, riding in to save the day. The despair.....honestly what more can we do now if the army continues to stand back and look at this appalling episode from a distance ? I actually really would like to know what more we can do ?

I don't have kids but if I did I would hope that they could freely go out with friends have an innocent knock about create some memories and have a few lagers without fear of an attack Although I would probably not allow them to go to any of the three islands to begin with. Still !

And now I wish I was actually none the wiser to that piece of <deleted> :(

Minister for Tourism and Sports is obviously there for one reason only. Money. He is there to protect the cash cow and make sure the money keeps rolling in from the tourists who keep piling in.

A quick reply to laughing. I've seen people face death, I've seen it's face and believe me it's no laughing matter. Neither is the viewing of death. Afterwards one deals with it the best one can and that often involves laughter, sick humor. Cops, military, EMT's etc. often have what other people would call a sick sense of humor, we called it mental survival. This case is one hell of a cluster <deleted>.

All I can surmise from this is that Thailand doesn't deserve a democracy. They've not shed a drop of blood in its pursuit and have no concept of its meaning.

Relatives of those who died in 1992 might disagree.
does democracy exist.......anywhere?
I believe it does exist in many countries. Few if any have a pure democracy though. I live in the States and we have a democracy, but one that is controlled and manipulated by those with the resources to do so. Would a pure democracy, in this world, eventually produce communism? I think it might, when the 'have nots' outnumber the 'haves' and vote according to their desire. I am a capitalist to the bone, one of the 'haves' and able to travel the world, seeing interesting places like Thailand. I don't want the 'have nots' in my democratic country to eventually curtail my success by voting us into communism. The 'haves' in Thailand attempt to 'reset' democracy every so often with a coup, because they haven't mastered the manipulation of it like 'democratic' countries in the 'west'.

Would be interested to read your take on the subject.

Well, I'm a "have not" in socialist, communist Sweden and I'm happily married with a wonderful, supportive wife, 2 great kids, a big house, a summer cottage in the Stockholm archipelago, 2 cars and we travel around the world, at least two trips a year. So what was your question?

The guy with the analogy from the Jaws movie was bang on the money. They cant have anything like this in the media just before high seasons. It truly sickens me. I , like many on this forim have been here a while (a lot longer than my TV membership suggests) but I have never been so disgusted and outraged at the incompetentcy of policing and lack of sensitivity of the TAT. Im a property owner and involved in the tourism business but I am falling out of love with Thailand at an alarming rate.

I can only agree. The whole thing also makes me sick!

But now we do not have to worry anymore. because The Minister for tourism and sports is now coming to Koh Tao to restore is image and everyone will be happy again.

If I was in the tourism business like you, I would honestly be worried. This place is going down the drain, when it comes to foreign investments and tourism. And it is not something that is coming, it has already started long time ago. Tourism has gone down with an alarming rate and it can no longer be covered up by false statistics. Add to that this case, which clearly shows that nobody really cares about the tourists here (except their money). Thailand is not what it used to be and it will get more hurt, as more and more tourists find other destinations, that are more welcoming and safe to be in.

I didnt have a question in my previous post, just an interest in reading other peoples take on the subject. However, I have three questions below in this post.

Are you sure you are a 'have not'; your post doesnt read like you are? What I find online is that only one percent of the Swedish population lives in poverty, and by their definition you would not be a 'have not' in Sweden. There are sources that state a higher rate of poverty for Sweden, but you would not be classified as a 'have not' by them either.

From what I read, Sweden looks like a country that might currently do well with true democracy. Previously on this thread, it was asked if there were any democracies. Do you feel that Sweden has a true democracy, representing the will and desire of the people? Do you feel Sweden's form of government would work well in Thailand?

Police blame delayed probe on social media

on bkk post

How the heck should social media have obstructed the investigation and confused the investigators? Shouldn't they be spending time on the investigation and not spending it on social media?

I agree with you however there seems at least one person who might not.

They need to make sure the DNA tests for the village head, his brother, his son and the other son or friend who fled to BKK is taken and correct. My money is that there will be a match in one or more of these samples.

Thats why the army should come in and go over a few things. Heads might roll....whistling.gif

With all due respect, is it certain that the army isn't corrupt? Is it certain that in Thai society there aren't some families who are culturally above the law?

I've heard that the wanted son is not wanted by the police anymore, He is in fact attending a famous university as a student, and has been there for some time. He was just on a visit to the island when the murders happened.

And his DNA came out clean.

Posted

Where is Sean now?

I'm very very surprised that he was allowed to go free so quickly. Not casting any aspersions here, but for the sake of the victims and solving this crime, he should surely have to go undergo DNA testing too?

Murder cases are always complex, it's never going to be a cut and dried scenario - this is not manslaughter, this is a complex situation with multiple factors, and there has to be at least 2 people involved, due to the rape factor and the magnitude of the injuries involved, which ultimately culminated in a gruesome murder.

We are inching closer, but the police on all sides need to keep the pressure up.

I am sure that if Sean is in the UK, he will be questioned by the forces there and will probably have to undergo DNA testing.

The DNA retrieved from the female victim's body shows two Asians and no other. Sean is not Asian so is not suspect. The two sons of the (former?) head man, believed to have returned to Bangkok on the morning after the murders, are being sought by the police for questioning and DNA samples. Almost every other Asian male, then on the island, has been questioned and a DNA sample taken. The samples go to an approved lab in Singapore (where the results are less likely to be interfered with by 'influential' people) where everyone is compared to those samples from the victim. These 'sons' may be the last to be tested and whether they are 'clean' or guilty, the investigation is almost surely done.

I read somewhere yesterday that he still had blood on his guitar,

I always take my guitar when I go a-raping and a-murdering with a hoe. /sarcasm

Really, if you are going to publish such hyperbolic statements, you should at least have a link.

so it's a 3 hour boat ride to Koh Samui, then a 1 hour flight to BKK. Yet we got the DNA result back in less than 24 hours so Mon is no longer a suspect. Come on reporters. Press the corrupt cops over this nonsense.

Posted

How do we know the the DNA sent to Singapore is of the actual person it's claimed to be from?

I still say there is a solid reason why at first it was announced that the FBI would be brought in to help, and that the Thais soon decided they didn't need them. This was even before we learned that Thais can't actually do real DNA testing.

Then we keep hearing that DNA doesn't match someone, in less time than it takes to do DNA testing, much less get it to Singapore.

The whole investigatigation seems like a sham to me.

Please excuse the spelling mistakes. Theres a few things I probably will add later on, but have work to do this morning. I'm sure I've annoyed mates by writing this - I'm sorry guys, but the wall of silence and deliberate misinformation regarding the local strongmen/families is offensive to everyone living outside the island.

As for the bloody guitar. You'd be amazed how many people have the "phangan" or "koh tao tattoo" that is motorbike related injuries involving booze. It's a rite of passage on the island, with poorly maintained bikes owned by long termers, crashes (and minor injuries) are common.

If he was playing his guitar in a bar and crashed, he'd have a legitmate excuse for blood being on it. I had the same thing when I drove home boozed up after DJing. Crashed my bike and grazed myself up - my bag had blood over it. One only has to count the number of bandages after full moon period on Khao San road in BKK to see this.

Thailand: face your shame.

We are sick of lies.

We trusted you with our precious children and Thailand has dishonoured this trust.

Show us justice for we will not forget.
