Haaaa just like Thappraya Road it will be long drawn and a danger and will continue for years, just to line certain peoples pockets.

I guess we'll know by November if you're right. Some very unhappy tourists and Bangkok escapees if that proves to be the case

What a mess it is. South Pattaya to Central, surface removed. Either a sand- & dust-storm or a mud-pit after the water-truck drove by. Sorry for the people and businesses along that road. MS>

Biffo the bear ............ why not stroll down there, take some pics, post them and thereby fulfil your desire and keep everybody so happy?

Looks like they are using a grinding machine to knock down all the high spots prior to repaving.

Hopefully they have stabilized the road slab to prevent the new surface from undulating.

Good to read. Makes sense and looks like it's not a patch job. Lets hope they get it done quickly and do a good job

Yes I'm sure they'll be doing that, as well as creating appropriate runoff camber to appropriate drains so that 2nd Road will be alleviated of future flooding issues. whistling.gif

It does look like they have been "road jacking" by drilling holes and pumping in some kind of slurry.

Noticed lots of small holes drilled and filled all along the 2nd road prior to this grinding operation.

Lets hope the city has not taken too many shortcuts and the new surface lasts a long time.

Yes, and then we can all grab our guns and go shoot the herds of flying pigs that will magically appear...

For the amount of undulation along the whole length of Second Road.....it could only have occurred by an "earthquake" (didn't hear one in the last 4 years)........ or underground water running through the sandy soil.....

If so...whatever they are attempting to insert would have to go to the source and block it.....wherever that may be......

But water being water....... will always find an alternative route

Sounds like a massive civil engineering project is needed to remedy this problem

Due to the traffic having to slow down the police are pulling motorbike riders over left right and center regardless if you have a helmet on or not. This is near where Wonderful bar is.

Not so wonderful if you get hit for a few hundred baht for nothing. Just avoid riding down 2nd road if you can.

If you are in compliance with the law you will not be fined.

Friends were discussing the deplorable condition of 2nd Road just a few weeks ago and then almost on cue they start the repaving. All I can say is Bravo and lets complete the job on schedule (end of October).

asphalt grinding? All they are doing is shaving off the top 2 inches or so and then laying new asphalt, should not take long to complete even for thailand maybe a couple of weeks at most. They usually do it every couple of years but this time they let it go maybe 4 or 5 so it was a real mess of patched potholes. This is however the first time I have seen the road turn into humps all the way down it. Passengers in bath buses look like they are nearly bounced out during the ride.

I wish they would have left it concrete like it was years ago. Center, north pattaya, beach, and 3rd roads are, which last much longer and are pleasant to drive on. I will try to get a pic. up later.
