Expats complain about traffic, but police say crackdown working

xn1signs.jpg.pagespeed.ic.E_RwDjgOTd.web

Unclear traffic and road signs sometimes cannot be seen, and when they are, often don’t make much sense, such as this ““through the left ventricle” sign.

PATTAYA: -- Foreign drivers in Pattaya might be excused for violating traffic rules. After all, the traffic signs, if visible at all, often aren’t in English and, even when they are, can make as much sense as “through the left ventricle.”

Solutions to low water level in Banglang Reservoir, Yala

YALA, 26 September 2014 (NNT) -- Acting Sub Lieutenant Lertkiat Wongpothipan, the Deputy Secretary General of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center, reports that the low water level in Banglang Reservoir in Yala has been causing water access problems for the people in the area.

The Center called for a meeting with responsible authorities to improve management of the water supply by building understanding and establishing mutual cooperation. There must be a clear plan for the transfer of water from Banglang Reservoir to Pattani Reservoir for agricultural, environmental and consumption purposes.

Another important issue involves the draining of saline water from the Pattani and Saiburi Rivers, while maintaining water levels. Suggestions to manage water usage include allowing people to use water only at specific times, but not the entire 24 hours, encouraging people to save water, and using water from other sources such as canals.

Mr. Kati chonnanibumrung, the Director of the Banglang Power Plant in Bannang Sata District, Yala, said that there has been a weekly arrangement to drain water from Banglang Reservoir to Pattani. This caused the water level to become too low, the lowest in the 33 years since the reservoir was built. So there needs to be an evaluation of the water supply and a management plan by the offices involved in Yala and Pattani to increase the quantity of water and ensure long-term benefits for people.

Sakaeo Municipality launches ‘Water drops innovation, Reduce mosquito larva’

SAKAEO, 26 September 2014 (NNT) – Sakaeo's Vice Governor has presided over the opening of the campaign launch of "Water drops Innovation’ to reduce Mosquito Larvae".

After the increased rates of dengue fever last year, the public and private sectors have collaborated to remove the hotbed of common household mosquitoes, using five methods including transferring water, covering water supplies, discarding waste water, maintaining water containers, and eliminating mosquito eggs and larvae.

Sakaeo Province has devised an innovation to interrupt the mosquito life circle by using a water drops innovation. Most people in the sample group were satisfied with test results since it saved water with no chemical substances.

However, people are asked to prevent dengue fever by eliminating waterlogged resources at least once a week.
