Still possible to stay 6months as a tourist?

Featured Replies

I'd like to spend english winter in Thailand.

I'm worried that I wont be allowed back in if I do a visa run.

Ideally I'd like to fly into BK on 30 day visa free stamp.

Go to Vientianne collect 2 month visa.

Fly to Indo for a month.

Enter BK on 30 day stamp.

Extend for last 30 days.

Will I be allowed?

Why dont you get a double entry tourist visa and get 2 30 day extensions which equals nearly 6 months give or take a few days.

Of course it is.

Note if you intend to stay longer than 30 days, a tourist visa is cheaper than an extension.

So you can get a double entry tourist visa in your country and save money and aggravation of visa runs.

Crazy not to get the double or triple entry visa in the UK while you can!

The whole crackdown is aimed specifically at those popping out of Thailand to neighbouring countries to continue thier stay..

If you are near the embassy in London you can apply for the visa one day and then pick it up the next day between 11am-Midday. Like Satcommlee said its crazy not to get while you are in the UK. You apply by Post if its to far to travel. They also have another embassy in Hull.

Thanks, I just looked on London embassy page.

To stay 6 months I need triple entry and thats 75 quid right?

Bit confused by their wording.

You might get a better service plus answers over the phone by using one of the consulates, such as Hull or Cardiff which are run for profit..

You are OK with a double entry. When you stay longer than 60 days, you extend for 30 more that save the inconvenience of a border hop.

If you get a triple entry this gives you 3 entries with 60 days per entry (180 days in total) and you can extend each entry by 30 days at a local immigration office. I would pay the extra 25.00 so you have 3 entries. This will give you more flexibility and it will only cost you 25.00 Pounds extra)

triple entry means every 60 days you have to leave country right? (if you dont extend for another 30)

Correct. There is no visa to stay six months consecutively unless you belong to a category for extension of stay.

I knew that English winter was very sad & rainy,

but I didn't know that, moreover, it was 6 months long... wink.png

Will be going up to Hull with my passport in the next week or so to get a double entry visa( plus two extensions in Jomtien) to cover my 5 and a half month winter trip out of the cold wet dreary UK, same as last year.

It might not be 6 months long but there is only 3 months of the year where you get good weather and then during this 3 months its often hit and miss.

Sounds like a good plan.
