Moves to protect tourists discussed on Koh Tao

Featured Replies

Sort it out General, the outcome of all this is no tourist is going to trust any Thai people in these tourist sht holes.

Every day that passes and every press release digs the hole for Thai officialdom deeper and deeper.

wow.. That lady needs to stop sucking on a lemon before each photo shoot.. But was she the minister of tourism and sport from a previous government? Is she properly qualifies for this job or is it a nepotism thing? I'd be interested to know her experience and suitability

Well she's certainly well qualified, but I do question whether she has an ounce of common sense - the wristband idea is ludicrous, and surely the emphasis should be on breaking the extortionate electricity and water monopoly before advocating more supplies?

My wife only said to me yesterday story on Koh Tao now go away rich people and police happy

......would that be coming from the backside of 'Thainess'?

Trying to shut the barn door now?

Where is the investigation at now? 87%, 6/7ths complete, nearing the point of making an arrest, dotting the i's and the t's, in the 11th hour, almost done, definately not being put in ice until media attention wanes.

The investigation is done and dusted - no more media coverage, no charges, yesterdays news - such a shame.

Last time I looked it was Sept 29 not April 1st

It's also 2014 not 2008... wai.gif

I have a very simple idea. It would make Koh Tao much safer. Pursue and arrest real criminals. Ignore the amount of money or influence their fathers have. Do not take into account whether or not the guilty party is the son of the headman of Koh Tao. Do not listen to outside influences, when they whisper in your ear. Figure out a way to get law enforcement to do their jobs. Lobby the powerful interests in Bangkok, who may offer the only way to straighten out this terribly broken island fiefdom. Lobby the parliamentarians to change the leasing policy on the island, so that the five families are completely stripped of their power. Prevent those families from selling land that does not belong to them, for small fortunes. Not to worry, the 100 million dollars, or more, each family has, will be enough to survive a few generations. But, it might ensure a bright future for an island that is a woeful tragedy.

Think my Idea way better I will write a travel forum and State in it that travel any where in Thailand is Unsafe. They only want your tourist dollars. If you get injured by a Thai it will be your fault If a Thai pushes you out of a widow it will be ruled suicide If your found with twenty bullet holes in you and a Thai standing over you with still smoking gun in hand ruled it will be suicide. If your body turns up missing head it will be blamed on a farang. So it is in your best interests to visit some where else. Sad but that is what this is coming to.
