If I buy a secondhand bike with a registration book that is legit, how much should it cost to have it changed over? Assuming I have a certificate of residence from my embassy and a copy of my passport. The owner (who is a decent guy) has got a quote from someone of around 10,000 thb to handle it, which sounds ridiculous to me.

3000B max that's if the bike has to be re registered in a different province. If it s the same then a lot less.

Yes it's a different province, and it was a Jap import that had a book supplied later from the cops. Going to meet him tomorrow, see what the deal is etc, check the relevant numbers and so on. I mean I'm all up for saving myself a day of messing around at the department of transport, I just want to make sure things are in order.

For a dodgy import then 10,000B sounds a good deal.

Just paid ฿2000 at Pattaya registration office but have to wait 10 days to get Green Book back.
