Thai embassy London want to charge me again for ED visa

Featured Replies

I enrolled in a thai language course from the UK, payed the fee and received the documents from the MOE which I sent to the Thai embassy in London along with my passport. After waiting over a week I called them and they have said that they received my passport but didn't receive the application fee for the visa or my application form. I completed the form and sent this to the school who then sent it back to me so I can apply for my visa. And I payed 26000 baht for the tuition and visa. I've tried contacting the school but they are closed until tomorrow. The embassy said they need £200!! Surely this is wrong?? I had a look on the school website and it says nothing about paying again for the visa after you have paid the 26000 baht. Can someone shed some light on this for me please? This is a reputable school, unlike the previous one who ran off with my deposit!!! I'm getting a bit worried! Thanks.

If I remember right (it has been a while) - you paid the school (typically) for their work on applying for a visa for you (the application). You still have to pay the embassy for the actual visa (which I would expect to be over a hundred).

What nationality are you? Many nationalities do indeed have to pay a visa application fee which has nothing to do with the fee you paid to the language school. However, 200 pounds seems quite high.

looked at the embassy webpage - it said 125 / year / multi-entry. Wonder where they are getting the extra 75 (maybe website not updated in a while :P)

The Visa is separate and you pay whoever issues it - that's never the school, it's always an Embassy or consulate.

The school does not issue your visit. The ministry does not issue the visa.

You pay your school for the tuition and for helping you with the paperwork to get you the ED visa. The 26000 is your schools fee. You must take the paperwork and you passport to the Embassy and they will put the Visa sticker in your passport and you must pay then for this. Not sure why it is 200 pounds though. When I got mine it seemed a lot cheaper.

You need to pay 50 pounds for a single entry non-ed visa plus 10 pounds for return postage.

You paid your school for tuition and nothing more. You have to pay for your visa and then your extensions of stay.

I got my ed visa in person in London a few weeks ago and paid £50 for a single entry, I think multiple entry is £125. The fees are on their website.

Take multi entry visa.....I did it and it is worth it...Simply no problems in the future
