Replacing lost car keys. Best way?

Featured Replies

I parked my car at Don Muang and lost the keys on my last trip. What should I do here in Thailand?

In the US I would call AAA to open the car and tow it to the dealer to make new keys, on some cars I could just order from the dealer a new set without having to change the locks.

I am clueless as to what services are available in Thailand.

Any recommendations anyone?

To be honest with you, I'm clueless too.

Contact a dealer for what make of car you have, and see if they can help you

Hope you manage to get it sorted

Call your dealer, provided you bought the car new from them, they will have the code for your keys and also be able to give you the number of a locksmith with a master key.

Moved to motoring.

Or ekes you can contact locksmith and he can make keys instantly , it happened to me instate and I called. Lock smith and he helped me to open the kick and make another key.

Amongst all the paperwork that came with my new Toyota Pickup was the key code number.

I carry a copy of this in my wallet so should I get locked out at anytime or anywhere I'll at least have a starting point in getting a replacement key.

Always get at least one spare set of keys cut and keep them at home.

In NZ I kept a spare key wired under the vehicle where it couldn't be seen and only I knew where it was, came in handy on several occasions, don't work with keyless entry thingies though.

As said dealer should be able to supply a new key from the chassis number. (It won't be cheap)You will no doubt have to visit in person with documents to prove you are still the owner. I think there is a good chance the new key will need to be programmed in before it will start the vehicle.
