NGO questions if the two Myanmar suspects are scapegoats

As the PM has stated that the DNA proves they are guilty, i can't see how a trial can find otherwise.

Agreed. See post #450.

With Andy on the case, confessions could be withdrawn in court but likely the powers would thwart that. Or allow it but find guilty anyway. Court has no choice now.

There is a way out for Prayut when or if the shit really hits the fan. He could say he was misinformed by over-eager police commanders to resolve this case, and that he has ordered an internal inquiry. But I doubt he would consider that. Given that he told the whole world that he would seek to eliminate corruption in Thai society, it hasn't taken long for that declaration to be buried.

No can do. The top cop is Police Commissioner General Somyot, a hand-picked appointee.

Only one above him is Supreme Commander of Police Department, ie the PM.

Check the link, it`s only one page. A view on police reform from the inside!

http://thaitribune.org/en/hot-issue/5886

Yes, it is very disturbing. I can't see any way that justice will be done if Prayut chose his second in command. Thanks for posting.

I like that website you can sign up......

I like all the talking here.....

but

The bottom line is the Thai government don't care wat we think or say. Never in the past they did do, not now they will do and as I can see it now in the near future they wil not do also.

There is only one thing that can change the additute and that is money. In this case i mean a lack of it.

If all those tourist dollars, yens and euros would stop floating in then you will see how quick things will change.

Just reposting the pictures that Ruthie posted earlier in another thread.

The murder took place on the morning of Monday 15th September.

Here's the pub crawl that took place on the evening of Monday 15th September.

There's Sean McAnna!

attachicon.gifsean.png

More questions:

I guess everyone deals with the death of friends in their own way - is this how he dealt with it?

If he'd been slashed with the same weapon that was used on David, earlier in the same day, would he be out partying?

The bar manager reported that Sean had a bloodied face that evening from an accident (said on the night of the murder, one of his employees identified as Jok saw so much blood on the face and body of Mr. Sean, so he helped to wash it out for him.) Any signs of injuries in the photo? (I know it only shows one side of his face)

(photos are readily available on Koh Tao Pub Crawl Facebook page by the way)

I wonder if this Jok thought it was normal? Crazy Farang. As for McAnna, his alleged previous hasn't exactly put him in a clean-living mould.

The top visitors to Thailand in 2013 were the Chinese, by a long way (4.7m), followed by Malaysians (3.0m). Australia, UK, and the US each had (0.9m). We are small fry. I doubt whether the Chinese visitors would ever go near the islands, aren't they big city tourists? Certainly plenty Chinese in Chiang Mai this year.

Some really good news:

Rights group arranges lawyers for Myanmar men

A team of lawyers has been sent to help the two migrant Myanmar workers being charged with murdering two British tourists and raping one of them on Koh Tao, a prominent activist for the rights of migrant workers said yesterday.

http://www.nationmul...n-30244775.html

Good luck to Mr AH. Don`t fancy his chances in the on going Artificial Vegetable criminal cases now!

Lawyers could have the "confessions" withdrawn in court but verdict would still be guilty because the top cop Police Commissioner General and the Supreme Commander Police Dept (PM) have publicly stated they are guilty.

For more transparency/certainty they could switch hearing to a military court as Martial Law allows.

The New Interim Constitution also allows for the Judiciary to be overruled.

Clearly these guys were tortured into confessing. Now, everybody is supposed to live happily ever after like in a fairy tale???? And now the tourists will flock back to the island? And I read somewhere else that Prayuth is going to give the cops a reward? For first-rate torture techniques I reckon. The people that buy this whole debacle with its "happy ending" must have failed critical thinking in college, if they even ever attended college.

Or had a brain to do critical thinking with ...

It was very convenient for the RTP and the bar owners for Sean to leave the island, if i remember they said he was not a suspect and was free to go, in other words go and keep your mouth shut .

If he had stayed and i believe he was too scared to, he would of had reporters continually asking him for the details of what exactly happened, therefore he was a risk to the RTP in closing the case, which they have frabricated.

Sean if you are reading this don't be scared now , you may be hiding in Italy, but you have a duty to help resolve this horrific crime !

I hope they can do the DNA tests again in Singapore , where they keep the samples of the DNA that was found on the victims. So someone else from the outside of Thailand can have a look at them .

If the DNA still matches the two Myanmar boys that would end all the wild speculations.

It WILL match,,, as it'll be the sample of the ACTUAL killers,,,, just maybe NOT DNA from the Burmese guys,,,

I may be wrong, but i think that Sean McAnna knows a lot .

He accused a Koh Tao family, the Koh Tao family accused him.

So , why did Thai police let him go ?

Did they just dismiss him as a paranoid fool ?

If he went back home, why English police didn't ask him some questions ?

...Or did he vanished in the air ?

A couple of possibilities...

He's gone to ground in shame after been outed publicly for the child porn conviction.

Or he's signed a contract with a TV production company..

There is no doubt one will be working on a documentary as we speak and will probably be out within a month or so.

If he has he wont be speaking to anyone else until its broadcast as they will do anything to protect their exlusive.

Remember the British media have been in contact with him, even in Koh Tao so i imagine hes been signed up already.

Thats just how it works these days with something this big.

The police in the UK will definitely have interviewed him already, I suspect as he got off the airplane.

I tend to agree , but, now there are 2 guys accused of murder and rape, and , even if they are guilty, it's unlikely that 2 people alone can have done everything, unless they are professional killers.

So, if somebody knows more, he should come out asap.

...Unless, of course they have a very good reason not to ..

" . . . it's unlikely that 2 people alone can have done everything, unless they are professional killers."

What?

Not so when you consider money spent. The Chinese are notoriously cheapskate, using minimal cost tours, and the Malaysians are very largely cross-border hoppers for weekend trips, spending little. The money spent by Brits, Aussies and other Westerners is much more significant.

My point was that they could ask someone else to perform a new dna test of the myanmar boys and compare it with the first DNA samples that was sent to Singapore.

Look for some more info on spending and stay time on this link http://www.thaiwebsites.com/tourism-income-Thailand.asp.

The data is from 2012 so a little out of date but give a good view who do wat and how.

I really do hope that Sean has told everything he knows to someone in the media. His run-in with the bar manager and frantic Facebook posts really were the catalyst for all the conspiracy theories. Imagine if we'd never heard from Sean. I wonder whether this case would have be wound up much sooner?

Sean, why did you say the bar owner committed the crime?

Sean, what did you mean when you said the bar manager was the 'leader'?

Sean, you said that you were only guessing when you posted that David died defending Hannah. Yet you never said that you were only guessing when you named the murderer.

Sean, you made these explosive claims to the world.

What do you really know, Sean?

Tell the world now!

He's probably already sold his soul to the devil and his 'friends' plus these 2 poor Burmese kids down the river for i guess somewhere around £10k

Will just have to wait for the documentary...

Im afraid this is my suspicion too, threatening him was a failure so maybe a compensatory package worked??

Speculation but, he has been quiet and that is not a good thing...

This little worm is on the run and in hiding. He and one or two others are sitting very quiet , waiting to see if they will get away with this. Pleading with him will achieve nothing. He is interested only in his own self absorption. Sean you little worm, I hope you dont manage to worm your way out of this one.

Yes, this is from a previous post of mine.

I don't know what's your opinion, i try to keep an open mind about this horrendous crime..

The Burmese may be involved or not, but i seriously cannot believe that these 2 tiny guys have done that... There must be at least another person ( euphemysm ) involved.

It's now shaping up to be a Dark of the Moon Party -- not a Full Moon party.

As the brilliant Pink Floyd remarked "There is no dark side of the moon. It's all dark".

PARTY ON, Poindexter!

The new ad for tourists: Come to our island and buy drinks from murderers. Maybe you could be next!

These jokes don't really work on a thread about tragic murders.

Welcome to Koh Tao, Thailand...

x10687149_771138739613481_25486921364745

The Thai forums are appalled by this as am I. @bongoz how dare you treat this subject as a comedy show..leave this forum now your not welcome.

Its not supposed to be a joke.

Actually its called satire and perfectly captures the tragedy and way its been handled and the tourists safety ideas that are far more laughable than that pic... and they are serious.

None of it is funny

Unfortunately this is sad but true. If you are white and more so white female, the chances of being raped, beaten or murdered because of the color of your skin are quite high in thailand.

Sean McAnna has been the subject of a lot of speculation. Did he really get involved either directly or as a witness or was he just a loudmouth who accused people without really knowing anything?

I reckon we can safely say he enjoys indulging in the alcohol. Look at him drinking from a bucket the evening after the murders. He also said he was drunk the night the two Thai men sat down with him for a chat.

Though Sean frantically posted that the bar owner was the culprit, he later said that he only suspected the bar owner did it.

I know a lot of people have said that everyone on the island knew who the real murderers were, but really? At 4am most locals are actually asleep believe it or not. They're supposed to wake in the morning knowing who committed the crime? In reality, only a very few people know absolutely who they were- the perpetrators and witnesses to the actual act. Anyone else is going off rumours or guessing.

Thoughts?

Have you seen his interview that looked like it was in the back of a taxi / tuktuk? two points I want to bring up, the first is body language. There are many areas to look at when trying to work out someone through body language, one point by itself is not sufficient, such as eye movement. If anybody is an expert on the subject watch that video, I know a fair bit but not enough. Secondly, I do know about stimulants and he looks string out after being on stimulants, his eyes and face in general appear to me as being someone who has been on something like meth.

Yes, seen it and agree he doesn't look great. Have to remember that he admitted being drunk the night before this interview and had just slept in the jungle, moving location every 30 minutes and also sleeping under a snooker table. Doesn't sound like he had much quality sleep so I'll cut him a little slack for his appearance.

Yes. without independent body doingthis they can fix it any way they want. It is so important for a UK / independent body to get DNA from these 2

It's hard to sleep after a night on stimulants plus alcohol, but after a night on alcohol alone fairly easy even if you MAY have witnessed a murder

Hannah's phone was planted, a friend of hers handed it in the next day, photo's on CSI La page. !

Who said that the phone found in the bushes was the girl's phone?

All articles seems to say "phone of the victim", and BangkokPost clearly say

"Police searched Win's residence on Thursday and found a mobile phone belonging to one of the two victims nearby"

So? Why not the guy's phone?

Why not David's phone? Here's why;

Pol Gen Somyot said today that investigators found Hannah Witheridge's mobile phone near Wyn's living quarters last night.

Since the police want us to have faith in their investigation, I'll believe what he said!

Ok, so now what is the color of the phone they found?

Hannah-Win-Phone2.JPG

Sorry, but doesn'n look like a PINK phone to me... rolleyes.gif
