Do i need to get the Thai marriage certificate translated into english? I plan on returning to Australia for a few months & returning with a non o, im sure the Thai embassy in Australia accepts documents in Thai language

The Thai Embassy will accept documents in Thai.

But you should translate it anyway and get it authorized by MFA as the Australian Embassy in Bangkok do not accept documents in Thai.

Ok thankyou, i guess another trip to MFA is needed & the translation might come in handy if ever needed by Aus Gov.

Be sure to get your name right in the translation.

Your name is going to be in Thai on the marriage certificate.

When we were married in 2012 I had a translation made from Thai to English. I did not attend MFA after the translation for authorisation. The Australian embassy accepted the certified translation. I would telephone the Embassy to see which translation services they accept.

Can i ask why you needed to show marriage certificate to Aus embassy? My future wife is dual Thai/Aus citizen. I figure only time i will need to show proof of marriage is at the Thai embassy in Australia when applying for visa for myself but will get translated just incase
