Is there time period of how long I must stay out of Thailand before re-entering?

Featured Replies

I've been to Thailand many times and have always flown in without any problems. But now with the crackdown I am wondering if it would be best for me to stay in the States for at least a month before I come back to Thailand? I haven't used up all my days in Thailand yet and I am leaving much earlier than the expiration date. So how long do you think I should stay in the States before coming back? I am hoping to keep on motorcycling in Thailand if possible among all this crackdown. Thanks!

I am also thinking of getting my non-immigration b visa done in the United States while I am there. I was going to go to Malaysia or Laos to get it done but I am going to try back in the States. I have everything ready to turn in, would that be enough for the consulate back in the United States? I followed a post with the requirements for Vientiane non-immigration b visa.

Anyone have experience with doing this in the United States?

There is no minimum time to stay away. If your paperwork is correct the consulate in the US will issue a non-imm visa.

Ok. I heard that honorary consulates in the USA cannot give out mailed visas anymore. Is this true? I was hoping I could sent it to Portland Oregon as I live in Boise. Perhaps I should go for a long drive...

Actually everything on their website indicates that they accept applications by mail.

The official word is that they do not issue them by mail any longer and that's what they will tell you if you send an email.

Call Mary at the Portland Consulate, don't ask her in an email. Visa application porcedures, Portland Oregon.doc. There have been reports that they still do it.

Portland issued a triple entry tourist visa to me on Sept. 9 of this year by mail. An email send to them prior went unanswered.

Also, their website clearly states that applications can be sent in via mail.

Their website hasn't been changed since the "no mail-in" rules were put in place by the MFA. I actually sent them an email on behalf of a friend in Montana after the rules were put in place and Mary wrote back that they can not issue them by mail any longer. She also said that I should telephone her. I told copied my friend in Montana and he called her and received one a tourist visa via Fed Ex with no problems.

what? so basically the whole thing is a farce? you email them and they will say no, but if you just mail it to them anyways after calling they will say yes.

anyone else find this hilarious?

Obviously you've never dealt with the US or any of the state governments or any government on the planet for that matter or the British embassy in Bangkok or customer service for any big company or ...

If this is an Honorary Consul, the people manning the office are most likely not Thai (the name "Mary" is another likely clue), so if you think you're doing some Thai bashing, you're missing the target.

People follow the rules when they're being watched or they're leaving a paper trail (at least the intelligent ones do) and then they do what's most practical when it's possible. You probably need to get out and about a bit more.

Lmao. You sound remarkable. Let me hear some more. I haven't heard "you probably need to get out more" since grade 6. Thank you for the laugh. Nowhere am I bashing Thailand, sorry if I offended your sensitive character but that was not my intent. I am merely concerned that such contradictions could cause problems in the future since the order clearly states that non immigration b visas Cannot be done by mail. Not sure why u have a problem with this, no need to act like a donkey.

Consulates issue visas.. That is easy and true.

BUT: when you arrive to Thailand with your visa, a Thai Immigration Officer has the right to refuse your entry. (and they do it quite readily if they think you are in violation of an immigration rule/law).

Fortunately that does not apply to the OP.
