Documents required for Non-O extension

Featured Replies

Hi, I have previously consulted on Thaivisa regarding the procedures relating to Non-O and Non-OA visas. Now I start the process of applying for the extension of my Non-O visa. My husband and I are both British, and my husband holds a Non-OA and I have a Non-O visa. Our marriage certificate was issued in the UK. Our local immigration office told me to get our marriage certificate verified by the British Embassy in Bangkok. I called the British Embassy in Bangkok and was told that it does not provide this kind of service and the GRO in the UK does this.

Please advise. Thanks!

There is no requirement in the rules for the marriage certificate to be certified. I assume you do have the original of your marriage certificate.

If they insist you can do a self certification of it at the embassy by doing a statement to that effect. That should be accepted by immigration.

Thanks for your reply. We just got back from the immigration office and got it sorted. This time we spoke to a different person who was very professional and clear about the rules. So we don't need to go all the way to Bangkok now. Only wish all immigartion officers are clear about the rules and can provide unified and professional service to us.
