I'm sorry if this has been covered before but the rules seem to change every time I look at the requirements. Yes TIT!

I'm finally getting out of the UK and am applying for a non o as I'm married to a Thai lady. It transpires Birmingham no longer issue these...... I only spoke to them just a few weeks ago and was told that no financial documents were required. It seems now the only way of a multi entry non o in the UK is the London consulate....but they ask for 3 months bank statements showing £1400+ annually. I do not have a pension or salary (47 years old) but have savings.

Please can anybody clarify for me as time is running out.

Best regards.

All you need is single entry, once in Thailand you can obtain an extension of stay witth saving of Bt 40,000.

i believe you mean 400,000 baht in a thai bank account

Ok ....Birmingham will no longer accept postal applications of any kind. I'm near London so would it be an idea to apply single entry for 90 days and then extend as you say? Would I extend on entry or further down the line......my apologies for lack of understanding. Thank you.

If you need a postal application London is the only choice.

Extensions are done at immigration offices with relevant paperwork, that for marriage is not little.

The consulates can no longer accept mail in applications only the embassy does them by post now. Info here: http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/4

The embassy will do single or multiple entry non-o visas based upon marriage to a Thai with no financial proof. What is posted on the embassy website is fictional.

If you get a single entry you can apply for a one year extension of stay during the last 30 days of your 90 day entry from the visa.

You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank in you name only for 60 days or proof of 40k baht income proven by a income letter from the UK embassy.

Thank you for your time everybody. Much appreciated. I think my best plan would be to have a couple days out in London and apply multi entry o and take my bank statements (just in case). Great advice ubinjoe.. Cheers!

I think this might have saved me starting a new post.

I'm 60 and married to a Thai and have an 'O' visa based on marriage. I entered on 26th December last year and got an extension at the end of March. I'm going back to the UK in a couple of weeks for work but I planned on returning in January at the latest so I would be back in time for the extension and I have the 400k.

It now looks like I'll be staying until June so I'll have to get a new visa. I saw the part about income on the website and was a bit concerned although will probably have enough income in the short term. This part is really confusing. 3 months bank statement showing monthly income of more than £1,400 anuually. I don't understand why they can't sort out their websites. So long as they need no financial proof or if 400k in a Thai bank then I'm OK.

I used to use post to Hull but last year they decided they needed financial proof. 800k I think so based on advice here I tried Birmingham. They'd never heard of the financial requirements but they did need a translation of the Thai marriage certificate into English which Hull didn't need. It cost me a fair bit to get it in a hurry but I got my visa.

It makes life so difficult when you can't get simple information.
