Extend tourist visa by 2 days?

Featured Replies

I need to extend my 30 day tourist visa by only 2 days. I read an old post that said I can just pay a fine of 500b per day which seems a lot cheaper than doing a visa run? But I want to make sure I can do this and not get into trouble when I'm leaving the airport, miss my flight, and, jeopardise future visa application, or even get arrested/detained. I'm not clear on the rules

Can anyone offer any information or suggestions

Thanks

What you have is an visa exempt stamp, not a tourist visa.

You can extend it for 30 days at any immigrations office, costs 1.900 baht.

Bring passport photos.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm wondering what happens when I try to leave the country 2 days after my stamp has expired

Where can I find a list of immigration offices? I'm in Pattaya currently

If you don't get the extension you will be on overstay for 2 days. The fine is 500 baht per day. There will be no problem paying it on departure from the country. There will be no problem getting a visa or entering the country because of the overstay.

Of course there is always the chance of getting caught with the overstay before you get to the airport.

Immigration for Pattaya is located in Jomtien.

Thanks for the useful information.

When I present my passport to a hotel check-in, would they be likely to notice this overstay and report it to the authorities?

The hotel won't report you other than the normal reports they do to immigration. It would take several days (if ever) for immigration to notice it on the report.
