Considering if it would be worth while to rent in Lamphun so as to save the hassle of Chiang Mai Immigration - that is to say if they have an immigration office there - anyone know if they do?

I do not belive Lamphun has an immigration office.

If it is for 90 day reports, you can mail them in. Other needs such as extension, re-entry permit, address verification than it has to be done in person in Chiang Mai.
