Thai women - like all women want a man they can be proud of in all situations...just like we like to have our gals admired they like their men to also be admired....It's not all looks, it's manners, caring, sharing, loving that build an entire persona....but looks, along with dress, cleanliness, grooming, hygene probably carry a good 85% of it......Thai's are very good about noticing subleties and forming opinions from there.....

You could also add:

1. no smoking

2. no tattoos

3. occasional drinking only

4. definitely not obese

Indeed, superficially, looking good helps in Thailand as with anywhere, with special attention to weight and your clothes (especially shirt and shoes), but I posit that eventually wealth trumps everything in this fair land.

I think a lot depends on how needy the woman is and how hot she really is. Lets face it, in Thailand It is easier to get a woman if you have money but the real question is do you really get your money's worth? If you are out of shape and don't really want to take your shirt off at the beach because you're shy, then what do you think your gf is thinking. If you are a slob, don't shower, not groomed or have bad teeth what do think they are thinking. Do you really think you are making her excited ? She will be going through the motions but not really into it as a real lover...

A hot Thai woman can get a farang in a minute but it may be a one nighter.

I think it is fair to say that Thai's do in general try to, and do appreciate others that keep their appearance up. How the girls manage to shower and wash and do their hair and dress in the little apartment rooms they share with one or two others constantly amazes me. Look at them in the airports when traveling and compare to some of the backpack foreign slobs that arrive. Gosh, how can that look make a good impression?

The only Thai women who don't care about their man's appearance are those with a financial imperative or those for whom sex is strictly a chore.

Very few women actually WANT to sleep with a fat, unkempt, sartorially-challenged man but they're willing to grin and bear it if the coin flows with sufficient regularity and in ample quantities. That's enough for some guys but they shouldn't be surprised if they discover the girl is having sex with a "buff" better-looking man on the side.

I deliberately didn't say "younger man" because, if an older guy's in shape, it just isn't an issue.

Thai women - ALL women - prefer a man to look good - Initial attraction trumps everything.

It breaks the ice and gives your personality a chance to do the heavy lifting.

Of course, the more pragmatic, cynical guys will say women only want a provider but that's being disingenuous - they may want a provider but that doesn't mean they're willing to grow accustomed to dry heaving the moment a guy's shirt and pants come off.
