KOH TAO KILLINGS

Lawyers want DNA tested by UK police

BANGKOK: -- NHRC sending a team to investigate crime scene as suspects retract confession

In a related development, British Ambassador to Thailand Mark Kent urged Thai social media users not to spread disturbing photos relating to the case or passport photos and details of the victims, saying their families had already suffered a lot. He made the request via his Thai-language blog on Friday. He also urged the Thai mainstream mass media not to prejudge the accused and let the justice process run its course.

Kent said the Thai media, including the social media, should be "responsible as well as free".

I do not think Mr Kent has a clue about how the Thai justice system works. As for social media, people should take responsibility for their actions but that does not mean silence when there is such palpable corruption and incompetence exhibited nor should it stop people asking questions and demanding transparency.

As far as responsibility is concerned the Authorities and for that matter the Britsh Embassy have a far, far greater responsibility to seek the truth and justice and to ensure that Justice is SEEN to be done as well. That responsibilty comes from being representatives of the people regardless of who appointed them. Even the junta is there by consent of the people albeit implicit and uneasy.

The Junta is there by consent of the people? laugh.png

I agree with everything else you said thoughthumbsup.gif

Thanks. I meant consent in a loose way given the current regulations on what can be said. There are no real demonstrations on the street so one could argue consent. I do take your point though.

Yes, he has been arrested and charged in the UK. His DNA is on the database.

Now is that arrest linked to the charge relating to child porn on his computer or are we know talking of and posting a new avenue of investigation in the Koh Tao murders?

Confirmation of new developments in this horrific crime that would hopefully lead the police to the correct criminals would indeed be an interesting matter.

So please as the post you made could be considered somewhat ''ambiguous'' in its style and content lets have a conclusive link to confirm the matter as opposed to that which appears to be '' ambiguous hearsay."'

nothing ambiguous about it,

he was previously arrested on a separate crime,

it has not been determined what was on his computer, as it could have been him and a girlfriend who was 17, when he was 18

anyone can accidentally view underage people, and governments have been known to plant illegal porn on a rival's, or a whistleblowers computer to shut them up

Is that routine now for all arrests in the UK? We left for the Dominions in 1987 when DNA was just a swear word or something.

Serious question. I'm sure that they don't do it in Australia, although I stand to be corrected.

My Dad told me that this is now the case for all people being charged. They can refuse then be re-arrested for obstruction of justice providing the police with 24 hours to obtain a warrant. The warrant is a foregone conclusion.

I know, "my Dad". He has a huge (and potentially dangerous dog) that he has handling lessons for from a senior Surrey Police dog handler. They have become good friends so I have no reason to doubt this information.

Thanks for that. Interesting. Eventually we'll all be bagged and tagged at birth I imagine (if it isn't already happening).

(I don't really think it is, that was a tongue in cheek comment (I have to say that for all our younger or not-British readers) but I like to feed the conspiracy theorists as well as trolls occasionally).

Lol. About time. If the UK checks it out then the truth will come out that they are not the real killers. I bet on that.

The people behind the Change.org petition are delivering it to Downing Street at 12pm this Friday. If you're London based or can get there to support, please do.

They've contacted all the big media houses (BBC, Sky, Guardian, Dailymail etc) to get coverage. The more people out to support, the more press it will get.

More info on the petition page or their twitter account.

(I'm posting this on the relevant threads so apologies for duplicating)

Excerpt from a curious interview of Sondhi Limtrakul, owner of The Manager media group gleaned from CSI LA.

He seems to make some pretty hard hitting allegations, if I understood all correctly (the audio is a bit patchy in places). He says Koh Tao is a very small island and every one there knows who did it but dare not say because of their influence which reaches to high places in Bangkok. If I am not mistaken, Sondhi seems to implicate the junta directly. All shocking allegations that cannot possibly be true. There was also something about Sean being squared away by local police as a condition of being allowed to leave the island in one piece after his run in with influential persons.

in the USA the social security number is the tag from birth to death and the contract to pay taxes

there was an uproar when it was discovered a hospital, or many, were taking DNA, and not telling the parents

The UK are not going to 'check it out' as they have already bent over and allowed themselves to be shafted. If they wanted to intervene they would have a long time ago, at the point when the murders were announced, not after the evidence has potentially been contaminated. Hate to break it to you all but nothing is going to happen. This will end up as yet another statistic and come a few months time people won't even be talking about it.

there is a petition being brought to the british parliament, with enough signatures to force them to bring it to their full attention,

the media isnt giving up because they know they have the Thai police on the run

the boy is refusing to give a false testimony against his friends, even though they tortured him,

if you think this is going away, you are part of the problem and not the solution,

I won't even consider a trip to Thailand now, as any trip, can become quickly, one way
