Perhaps he's the person you should be opining with and not me... Say it to his face just the way you type it to me.

100,000 esigs mean nothing here. You're a bit slow to get it coming from a highly educated western society...

Yes, a horrific double murder and the guilty need to be brought swiftly to Justice.

But hold on a minute about Petitions to the British PM and demands for a British investigation. Just who do these people think they are?

We have some very fine Police in Thailand who are more than capable of handling this.

Thailand is a Sovereign State, so just back-off with your "Colonial Mentality" and leave it to the Royal Thai Police, instead of trying to run rough-shod over our investigative team. Time to simply accept the fact that "Britain no longer rules the waves"...or anything else these days and certainly never has, nor will it ever, rule Thailand.

There's no doubt there are some fine police in Thailand and I've met some but they seem to be outnumbered by ones who aren't so good either because they're just useless or they haven't had the proper training.

Who do these people think they are?

We're British citizens as were the 2 victims and we can petition our government if we want. We can also go and talk to our MPs as well, just because we are constituents even if we haven't got money and don't know the right people.

If the UK police want to carry out investigations in the UK then they are entitled to do so. There will be an inquest and that will be carried out by a coroner in the UK regardless of what Thailand thinks or wants.

The old 'Colonial' excuse just doesn't cut it anymore and is even more stupid when you consider that Thailand was never part of the British Empire in the first place.

I invite you to look at what a UK inquest is empowered to consider.

It will not include any investigation into who killed them.

I invite you to read my post again slowly. I never said it would include an investigation into who killed them. I'm fully aware of the scope of a UK inquest. I was just pointing out there would be one.

The Key is the DNA which the Thai police "say" is a match - get that verified and we will believe beyond any reasonable doubt - I honestly fail to understand why they won't do that (or maybe I do) in order to stop the rot surrounding this vile crime

I just don't get it...one simple independent DNA retest - new swabs from the alleged, and compared to original samples sent to Singapore, and this would all be over. So what/who are the Thai police trying to hide?

The petition has reached it's goal of 100,000 signatures.

So? Great they have 100,000 esigs that mean nothing in a court of law... and this isn't England.

I think you are missing the point of the petition totally.

Nobody here has claimed this petition is to be used as evidence in the court papers. That comes purely out of your own mind for reasons only you have access to, as they reside only in your own mind.

The petition is to put pressure on the UK government to insist on Thailand playing ball with this investigation and allow some 'independent' involvement in the case.... Not only to find the real killers, but also to make sure that others do not unfairly suffer as a consequence to this incident along with police corruption. Nobody should be benefiting from this disgusting act of violence and many (inducing many Thais) are of the opinion that pockets have been lined and palms have been greased to send the investigation down this route.

All that happens is more innocent people suffer and is a stain on the memory of all those affected.

If there is nothing to hide, and a perfect job has been done. Then why not be open and transparent about it to all the nations concerned?? Surely in a proper society, that is not much to ask.

The more Prayuth and the RTP resist this, the more guilty they look and the more people are going to poke them. This petition has now enough esigs to demand a reading in British Parliament as to push Thailand even harder. But is also putting even more pressure on Prayuth and so it should.

If the UK government are forced to push this (and they will be) by the public and the press, that will probably get another out of hand rejection from Thailand pouring even more criticism on them...

If the UK really end up being pissed off by the Thai administration then relations are going to sour, and the UK know that the USA are watching Thailand very closely with regards to human rights abuses of its migrant population. We all know how the UK and US like to stick together.

This could actually force sanctions to be imposed against Thailand next time they come up for review, and this is also going to affect their tourism from said countries.

There are a lot of organizations watching this very closely.... I really hope Thailand and its very shaky self image of huge importance in the world is not going to be its downfall.... Death by Thainess.

To the rest of the world, Thailand is nothing more than a sex tourist destination and backpacker party place with nice food and cheap beer.

Nobody sees past that, and that's the truth. The amount of times I have had the same old response to me living in Thailand being along the lines of ladyboys, sex bars and crime is a searing indictment of that.

That's all Thailand is to the west, and they do nothing to help that image.... they just add to it with negative media coverage which it fully deserves.

Negative image? I come from a country that dropped atomic bombs reared Charlie Manson and elected George Bush Jr. as president. If you think that your petition carries any weight here, then think again. Thailand doesn't care what you think. Ask me again in a week and I'll still be right.

I'd be happy to say it to his face, I would repeat exactly what the UK government officially said to the ambassador. Oh and by the way, you do know that has already brought results................. since that meeting in which the UK demanded close and frequent reporting of the case to them, the first video conference was held just 2 days ago between the Thai investigating team and their UK counter parts, a small step in the right direction and probably means absolutely no change in the investigation or outcome but proves that pressure applied does produce results. They also agreed to allow the UK police to go and work along side them in the investigation, albeit with major restrictions, again proof that when pressure is applied in enough quantity change can happen. That's the point of the petition and the point of the masses crying out against the injustice.

The UK will continue to increase the pressure but not by making wild statements in public.

I hope you never experience such a tragic event in your family where you would have cried out for support and hope that people will try to help. Do you forget the statement made by Hannah's parents? They are distraught and want to find the 'right suspects'

If Saving Face means more to Thai Culture than their own peoples survival & existence accompanied by visiting tourists paying into the Thai economy ..... Then convict these obviously innocent Mayamar men & let the real suspect go free because of his connections to his Mafia Family .... Then you will all see how much damage & cost will be involved .. I lived & worked in Thailand in Phuket for nearly 6 yrs & know how the system works there ..... If Thai people & the RTP along with the new General Priminister know what's good for their country they will find the Mayamar men innocent ......

Too late for my tragedies in life but I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Thank you. We all want to find the right suspects. It could very well take a long time, if ever. In a world of people with the patience and attention span of a microwaved dinner... I do hope you succeed.

You have clearly dropped all the balls on this one..... Please take note of what many are trying to tell you.

It has NOTHING to do with what it can achieve here...... The petition is aimed slowly at turning the screws at the British end.

How many more times is it going to take to sink in?????

You keep clutching at a straw that has nothing to do with the petition.

I bet you still won't understand the BASIC English i have written.

Regarding whether Thailand suffers a lot from this.... Ask me in 9 months when it is up for review on human rights abuses and I will be right.... Thailand will suffer badly.

I would like to sent a message to the real killers. The 3 suspects who escaped via speed boat to Chumporn Province. I would like to let you know we have eyes and ears everywhere. We have people who love justice. Your action has caused trouble in society and reputation of Thailand. You bring shame to our country.

I know which one I believe http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-29668785

After a one to one meeting with Cameron, in Italy the Thai PM Prayuth has agreed for the British Police to assist. The main area of focus according to the UK is to independently verify the DNA of the suspects

Crumbled in the presence of real leadership.

....and then find the real criminals guilty, whoever they are and no matter how rich, networked or influential they are. The PM wants Thailand to be a developed country by 2025. This would make a good start.

These people (the clowns wearing brown uniforms) are not fit to investigate a complex murder (let alone a traffic accident or most any crime) when they are most likely involved in the corruption and cover up.
Most of these people have little to no moral "character". It has been talked about by so many others and it's been proven over and over... It will be a long long time before that paradigm shift occurs.

This crime is tragic and the investigation, from what I have read and can understand, is a firkin joke by western standards. It just pisses me off to think good young kids were murdered by thugs that were able to buy their way out thru corrupt people who's very position is suppose to protect the citizens of a community.
When this blow up in their face, I hope they rot in a deep hole full of crap.

Since the Uk have (or at least had) the bodies of the murder victims, do we know whether an independent autopsy was carried out with reliable DNA samples? And if not, why not?

If the answer is yes, i don't see how it can be difficult to obtain DNA from the Burmese to match it. Presumably there will be plenty of DNA to be obtained from their family homes without even having to go to Thailand.

Why do the Thai's need to be involved in that side of the investigation at all?

SURAT THANI — The Koh Samui Provincial Court on Wednesday approved a police request to detain the Myanmar suspects in the murder of two British tourists for another 12 days before prosecutors seek to indict them.

Of course. Like everything else on Samui, the courts are compromised too. What else was to be expected? Just ask, and we will deliver.

Refuse Thais entry to UK. (or EU),

If we all leave, then they will lose out big time.

Nice try. For those of us who have made new lives for ourselves, in a land we truly enjoy, lets leave to make a point. Yes, I am a man of principal, and I will move back to a country I do not like, to make a point like this. Let us all contribute positive and useful suggestions, and avoid these kinds of blanket ideals, that are difficult if not impossible to achieve. What do you think are the chances we are all going to leave, over this incident? Boycott crime, mafia, and drug infested Tao for life, as I am going to, yes, but leave the country to make a point?

Question already asked in another thread, but what would you expect from the/a UK autopsy

when the bodies already get autopsied in Thailand and have been cleaned and embalmed to be repatriated ?

it has been told to me that the jailers are refusing visits to the boys other than the lawyers, who may not even be in country

it is also reported that anyone who brings food, and is attempting to visit is being intimidated with threats and is being reported to various higher ups

Stories that have come from people on the island, which are no more likely to be untrue than they are true.

Your response, however, is just your opinion, in fact you're merely dismissing these stories out of hand without offering even another story to counter them. Thus it has even less credibility standing alone; add to that a reading of more of your numerous one-liners and the credibility (of this statement at leas, but I'm comfortable extrapolating to a lot of what you write) is pretty much zero.

Not that that will deter you.

The nature of rumors is that they are inaccurate for the most part. How many theories have been published so far on social media? How do we know where they came from?

There is such a desire to protect the status quo, the rich, and the elite here, that I think the only thing we can be sure of, is that we are NOT hearing the straight facts, and that the guys who were arrested were NOT the guilty party.
