Mr Bo,

i see u still have a hard on over your victory last weekend :o

i suppose if i had to wait 30 odd years to do the double over your main rivals, i would too.

It was an amazing day. City had not won there for 34 years, so to be part of a team to manage it is phenomenal.

get a grip eh

34 years matey and counting :D

What are you talking about jjp. Please show me where you think i have gone over the top in my celebrations. Jeezus, i've hardly given any of you, any stick at all about it. You should see the shattered nerves of my mates in the pub.

Me thinks it's just you who doesn't know how to take defeat gracefully. I've had plenty of practice in that field over the years, so i could give you some tips on how to still keep a sense of humour about it. Even that duff report about the advertising was sent to me by a United fan with his sense of humour still in tact :D

See buddy, it's you who's kicking this off. There hasn't been any grief all week, none of us have given you any real stick, but if you want to take the gloves off. I'm up for it.

Unfortunately, you are the type of football fan I remember from my school days!!

Fortunately the football fans on this forum tend to be a little bit more mature.

We had a deserved victory, we had our moment. Thanks to Mr Toad and you other mature reds for not being bitter and congratulating us :D

jip, you are not being clever/smart/humorous. Pack it in!

We'll ive watched it live and my tape of the game twice - chuffin great.

And just to put the win in context (from a City website):

City’s league record against United over the last eight years (which includes two games in a City relegation season) is: Played 14, Won 5, Drawn 4, Lost 5, Goals For 18, Goals Against 17. This proves that City are no pushovers when it comes to derby matches. All that needs to happen now is for them to become more consistant throughout the season and then challenge for trophies.

Oh, and i was at Old Trafford in '74 to witness that great game!

Squad shaping up nicely for Everton

Sven-Goran Eriksson has reported that the City squad is in great shape as they prepare for Monday’s crucial game with Everton.

The players were given a few days off over the weekend after resuming training in the wake of the historic win at Old Trafford, and the Manager says everyone is ready for the Premier League run-in with European places up for grabs.

Sven says, “Everybody’s back in and training, which is good news for us. We have all the players fit now, touch wood, which bodes well for the rest of the season with 12 games to go.

“The only one not ready to play as yet is Bojinov, but hopefully in a couple of weeks he’ll be available.”

The 22-year-old Bulgarian has bounced back from a devastating cruciate ligament injury, thanks in no small part to the work of MCFC doctor Mark Whitaker, head physio Ally Beattie and fitness & conditioning coaches Stefano Marrone and Jon Webb.

“Valeri has worked so hard and is very keen to come back," Sven continues. "He’s tackling and doing everything in training but he was out for a long time. It will take time before he’s in competition for a place in the side.

“He’s enthusiastic, which is understandable with such a long break, but I hope he’ll be available in about two weeks.”

Michael Johnson is back in full training but did not feature in Tuesday’s Pontin’s League reserve match, so is Sven hopeful that the midfielder could be available for Monday?

“I hope so, we’ll wait and see either on Thursday or Friday but he is training. He had some slight pain on Monday but today he looked good again.”

Capello drops Hart hint

The Mirror

"Fabio Capello set to hand Joe Hart debut England cap against France"

Manchester City's Joe Hart has leapfrogged all his rivals to become Fabio Capello's favoured choice to be England's new No.1.

Capello gave Portsmouth veteran David James a first start in three years in his opening game against Switzerland a fortnight ago.

While Capello left out Tottenham's axed Paul Robinson and Rob Green of West Ham, he had Chris Kirkland and Scott Carson on the Wembley bench, with Hart instead playing for Stuart Pearce's Under-21 side.

But the Italian last night publicly hinted that Hart, who has made just 22 starts for City and was on loan at Blackpool 10 months ago in League One, is the man he has identified to become the new England gloveman.

Capello said: "One problem that I have as England manager is that only 38 per cent of the players are English. The pool is reduced and I have had to reinstate a 37-year-old goalkeeper.

"But I have spotted one in the Under-21s who is very interesting."

That's Hart - nailed-on to get his first senior call for next month's prestige friendly with France in Paris, and likely to make his bow.

Capello's last two first choice keepers were Gianluigi Buffon at Juventus and Iker Casillas at Real Madrid, and with Manchester United's Ben Foster still recovering from the knee ligament surgery which has ruled him out all season, Hart will be given the chance to stake his claim.

Hart's imminent elevation will seal a fairytale rise for the 20-year old, who began the season as City's third-choice keeper behind Kasper Schmeichel, son of Great Dane Peter, and Sweden's No.1 Andreas Isaksson.

But Sven Goran Eriksson soon realised that Hart, who played 58 times for hometown club Shrewsbury before a £600,000 move to City in May 2006, represented the real deal.

"Joe Hart is one of the biggest talents in this country as a goalkeeper and he will one day be picked for the national team," predicted City boss Eriksson.

"You see him in training and matches and he is good. The only question is: Is he good enough to do the job? Mentally, he is strong.

"He has two great feet and can make great saves."

Boss bemoans lack of cutting edge

Sven-Goran Eriksson has bemoaned City’s lack of a cutting edge in Monday night’s 2-0 home defeat to Everton.

First half goals from Yakubu and Lescott gave the Blues too much to do against an efficient visiting side, with Tim Howard’s save from Nery Castillo in the 85th minute the first shot on target from the home side.

Reacting to the defeat, the Manager said: “This was a real disappointment, we did not play that badly and had a lot of possession without getting any penetration. But we conceded two easy goals, both at set pieces and that’s too dangerous at this level.

“We tried hard in the second half but with our attacks they were able to break and still create chances. Of course Everton are a strong team, well organised and they defended very well.

“It was important that they scored first, in a game like this you don’t expect too many chances, had we created something in the first half hour maybe we would have had a different result.”

A bad night ended with Martin Petrov earning a three-match ban for a straight red card, shown after he had petulantly kicked Leon Osman from behind in stoppage time. The Bulgarian had just seconds earlier attempted a much cruder kick at Yakubu which referee Rob Styles missed, and of the incident Eriksson added:

”If the referee is consistent he should have yellow-carded him when he tried to take Yakubu the first time. The second one was not really a yellow card, it was more of a flick and I saw Phil Neville’s reaction, which showed he looked surprised. If the referee was harsh it would have been two yellows, but he decided it was a straight red.

“It needs more than just a word from me with Martin now because we lose him for three games and that is hard for us.”

Well and truly beaten in a very flat performance. BOBBINS!!!

Only positive i could see was Joe Hart and Castillo looks a player (good to see him fit again).

Sometimes this season i think SGE is the one that gets it wrong. Last night was one of those. Everton came to defend heavily and counter-attack and though it may not have been what the fans wanted i thought we should have played similarly and been happy for a point first and if the chance on the break or set play came then sneak 3 points. We played right in to their hands. We did the same at Chelsea where the media pumped us up to be capable of beating them so we went for it and came unstuck big time. Seems to me that SGE himself needs a season to get to grips with the Premier.

Is it Wigan next - b*gger - they always seem to be up for it against us, and i know Dunney hates playing against their big front players.

Yep. Totally agree Bred. Every time we went into their half they had players defending first and foremost. If they got a chance to counter, they did and they looked threatening evertime. City on the other hand where well contained whenever we tried to get into their area.
