Car Recovery

Featured Replies

Hi All, I need to collect a friends car, manual, from Chinat,to Pattaya around 400 kilometers, is it permissible to do this with a tow rope or do you have to use a ridgid bar, can we go on The Toll Roads.

Can any one suggest any other alternatives, can we rent a trailer or spectacle frame in or around Pattaya.

Where could we rent or buy a ridged bar.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Regards Tom

I don't know the laws ref towing in LOS, however having moved many, many vehicles in the uk by rope, bar, trailer and slide back recovery truck I wouldn't recommend rope towing over that distance.

Assuming the engine is disabled it would be very hard work on the person steering the dead motor. No PAS, no brake servo assistance, no AC, having to constantly concentrate on keeping the rope tight.

Rope towing is ok for short distances if both drivers know what they are doing and can keep the rope tight at all times.

Assuming you have a vehicle with a towbar fitted you could use an A frame dolly. Perhaps could be lifted into the back of a pickup for the outbound journey. Though not sure I've ever seen one in LOS.

Would suggest seeking out and getting prices from some companies who are in the business of vehicle transportation.
