710 km. 10 hours no problem but first time give yourself 12. Highway 11 to 12 to to 2 to 230. Check Google Earth.. You could give yourself a break and stop over a night on the 12 as this is a National Forest area and is fantastic. This area is called 'The Swiss Alps" of Thailand.

I drove it last september and including a food detour around lampang it was 725km.

This time of year the weather was rainy and windy especially in the hills i didnt likr it at all and had half an eye looking out for pissed up speeding bus drivers.

From lampang at 92kms to uttradit at 231kms its dangerous mountain driving with several areas of rockfalls and no fuel stations so make sure you are well stocked up.

Allow for 12hrs ; at night you will be so mentally and physically exhausted after just 4hrs on those roads and in the day yiu have traffic to contend with.

If your partner is a driver then thats a bonus otherwise plenty of rest breaks is advisable.

Hate to disagree but you only have 63 km of single lane highway from the intersection of the 2004 and highway 11 down to Den Chai the rest of that rout is dual lane divided highway way. I have been driving that highway for years. That final 63 km when upgraded will be a godsend. From Den Chai to Uttradit is 52 km and is dual lane divided highway and from Uttradit to Phitsanulok is 117 km again of dual lane divided highway where you pick up the 12 . Now the 12 hang on its a very scenic drive but you need to be in control. Its single lane and mountainous and yes I have seen some bad accidents on it. This is the area that transit the national forest and is well worth spending a night at a lodge. From Phtsanulok to Chum Pae is approximately 220 km, good road but as said mountainous and single lane be awake. Take your time and enjoy your trip.
