2 year extension of stay?

Featured Replies

I read recently there may be a possibility of a 2 year extension of stay for teachers. Next month i will apply for my second 2 year teachers permit and as i have been at my school for a while i feel they will have no problem giving me a 2 year contract. Has anyone tried to get a 2 year extension yet or is this just an idea for immigration pending for the moment????!!!!

Currently there is no such thing as two years extension.

Since regulations were updated just last 29/8, it seems unlikely that further changes will come anytime soon.

There is no 2 year extensions for teachers at the moment.

There is a lot of discussion, but that is just that, discussion.

Ok thanks for the information. Maybe something will happen next year when ASEAN kicks in...... or maybe not!!! lol

There is something 2 year for teachers, is it visa or extension, not sure, Barrow writes visa many times when he talks about extension.

Work permit, visa proposals get positive response: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/business/Work-permit-visa-proposals-get-positive-response-30244996.html <= I recently got my first ever 2 year visa which I'm happy about

I heard a school can give you a 2 year contract but that may not result in a 2 year extension to stay.

Applying for your second 2 year waiver for teaching?

Being there for a while means 2 years?

Before the enforcement of limiting number of waivers to 3, they would not give a 2 year contract to a teacher that had been working there 5 years.

There is no 2 year extension possible at the moment. It is not something that is going to happen any time soon.

It would take a ministerial regulation at the least or possibly a change to the immigration act for them to be granted.

Hi Ubonjoe. Thanks for your reply you have helped me alot in the past and i appreciate it. It is the article in the nation which seems to indicate a 2 year visa is now available. The labour office have already confirmed to me they would be happy to give a a work permit for the duration a of a contract. Therefore i will probably get a 2 year contract end of the year and then go and see what immigration can do????? lol

Thanks Hullupullo. This is what i read and what prompted me to post

The two year extension is not possible for teachers yet.

Only those working for BOI companies and those working under a specific law. The specific law is the immigration act for teaching and it only allows for one year extensions.
