ED visa in Yangon, Myanmar?

Featured Replies

I need to go out of the country to renew my ED visa according to the new rules, since I have been here for more than a year. But I would like to do so in Yangon as I have a friend I want to visit who is living there.

With the recent changes in regulations I am little worried about how safe it is to do in Yangon. Recently, it has become impossible in Penang, difficult in Phnom Penh, from what I read and people recommend me to do it in Laos, as it is safe so far. But I really want to go to Yangon instead.

Anybody got an ED visa recently in Yangon and can tell me if it's still possible? I even tried to call the Thai embassy in Yangon to ask, but they never replied...

Thanks in advance

If you are prepared to stay in Yangon for several days to get it you should be able to get one there.

There was a recent report that the embassy is very busy and only issue a few numbers a day and that you might get a number for as much as a week later when you get one.
