Does anyone know where in Thailand I can buy a pet rat? I live in the north so if there's a pet store in Chiang Mai someone could suggest I'd appreciate it.

My wife loves animals, and I mentioned to her that rats are good pets (I had them as a kid), so she asked if I could get her a couple.

Preferably not the creepily looking white ones with the red eyes.

Is it legal to have a pet rat in the LOS?

Yeah It is legal to have a pet rat, actually they are great pets. Had one as a kid, and it was called Roland, funnily enough.

OP, Sorry about all this mess caused by unscrupulous members of this forum.

But yes, my daughter used to have 2 Russian rats as pets.

They were lovely animals.

Unfortunately they both died from cancer, after costing me a fortune running to the vets.

It shouldn't be illegal in Thailand and I hope you find a pair.

Don't forget they need a large cage.

Ithink it is Arak road, (?) westside, inside moat, many pet shops, have seen some other rodents there. chipmonk, squirrely things too.

Good place to look. About 3 pet shops there selling rodents.

We used to have sugar gliders as pets. The g/f bred them. They were very nice pets.

We bought our daughter a pet rat at the pet store located in Mee Choke Plaza in Chiangmai. If your back is to the Mae Jo Rd, then the store will be on the right, in the old shops, almost at the end., opposite to Rim Ping Supermarket. You should keep in mind that rats live 2-3 years in captivity.
